When will clients with their ADSL lines managed by crystal web be able to do their own port resets? This feature has been promised for some time now, unless its already there.

Once Telkom fix their API interface properly and we can be sure that we can integrate with it again without a hassle. I am busy with discussions with them about this and a host of other things that will see a "tighter" integration with them in the long-term...

For those of you who download on CW via Steam. What server do you pick?

I'm using "south africa - cape town" but the speeds are very erratic, it can never hold full speed.

I use South Africa - Johannesburg. I receive full line speed, nearly all the time. It also depends on the content you are downloading, bearing in mind that IS caches Steam content on their side, but if you're downloading an old, or unpopular title, you may be forced through to downloading it from overseas servers.

Also - There will be heavy usage now with the sales, so it's quite likely there will be some speed drops occasionally.

I think you are on the right track. I can get line speed with certain downloads on steam and not others.
So probably a caching issue.

Either way it is going much faster now. I think it might have been a blip in the beginning.

Question: If I want to do a temp upgrade for December do I have pay in the difference by EFT or will my debit order take care of that ?

Your debit order will take care of it. But the debit file has already been submitted so will only go of later in the week for the difference...

Yeah on our side we see similar on the odd occasion and we can definitively rule out our network. Some servers just get nailed and not all data is fully replicated on their end so not even trying to load balance works on their side in times of stress downloads. Occasionally the caching servers get hit hard but it's very rare. Recent sales though haven't negatively impacted on our network in any way. Everything still purring along... :)

In my experience Steam content servers do get hit rather hard during massive Steam specials, as are currently in progress. Considering there are normally very few content servers in SA, they start maxing out. At least CrystalWeb is on IS, and on that same network are the content servers, so it should at least, be best effort.

DJ has there been any issues over the last two weeks with random disconnects..? I seem to be having this issue where the connection drops and then reconnects a minute or so late. I remember there was some comments regarding users having issues when the new passwords were issued...

That wouldn't be a password issue. That sounds like the line temporarily losing sync. Ask support to check the disconnect causes. They're also available in the portal under login history. We are combining that all btw...

Correct. If it's not working ask support to get the devs to open access...

Sir, do you remember my sync issue I had a couple of months ago? I think it's back :(
New Telkom software upgrades wrestle even more control away from ISPs on the sync side. Very much automated these days, but we may be able to assist depending on the nature of the problem. But best to deal with support directly so you can properly diagnose and resolve...
