Contention will be applied to the cheapest accounts first on any network unless otherwise specified. There's no guarantee of bandwidth in an instance of a cable break unless a specific SLA binds us to that, but guys here will be able to provide their experiences during the last two cable breaks where most users were largely unaffected, as we operate significant spare, redundant capacity...

Thanks DJ.

Agree that CrystalWeb Home capped performed admirably during the last break - was able to stream HD Netflix while a business fibre line with another ISP at the office hardly functioned.

So what you are saying is due to redundant capacity full line speed has been available to all capped accounts (even the cheapest) the last few months and therefore they would have performed identically?

If this is the case the occasional slowdown I see is a local loop problem and upgrading accounts will not help :-(

Hi there, thanks for the feedback. You can use a passport number and send a copy of your passport to [email protected] for non-South African sign-ups.

Done and done. And as promised, here's some feedback on the rest of the signup procedure. I chose to pay via EFT. Your signup process required me to pay right away before finishing the process, and it was very insistent about this. However, it failed to tell me how much I was required to pay. Now I did remember it, so it's not so much of a problem for me, but you think your customers can't click signup on the right item, yet you expect them to remember the price from the beginning of the process till the end, which might even have been modified due to the addition of a modem or Telkom ADSL extortion? Damn...

Oh, and... During sign up, you claimed that my product was called "Big Bigs" rather than (I suppose) "Big Gigs".

Just wanna thank Michael for his help in fixing my line issues. Your customer service is legendary bra!

DNS issues reported in Kwazulu Natal.

Not linked to any ISP as switching DNS and switching ISPs results in the same failed DNS lookups. Appears to be a specific routing issue of DNS traffic in KZN. Will keep you updated via our network notices (already updated and customers sent SMS and email updates) and here as I can feedback more information...

Update: problem appears to be localised to a small area in Umhlanga due to localised failure on the DSL network from upstream and is not related to Crystal Web...

So I've been home during the day for the past week and I am actually able to download and stream stuff without a issue. Was never able to do that on any of my previous ISP's, capped or uncapped.

@DJ

Greetings :)

After a lot of back and forth with Mr. Vader, we finally figured out my Twitch/YouTube issue.

He really has been the greatest support agent that I have dealt with to date and I think he really deserves a bells :)

What issues were you experiencing with Twitch/Youtube? I too had issues with these (low connection speed, etc.)

I was not able to get over 4mbps throughput on YouTube with a 10mbps line and I had constant buffering with TwitchTV.

After a lot of testing I suggested I try a capped account and problems solved :) (although on the uncapped account Vader fixed my YT issues on the second night like a baws)

Hi All. Anyone else having issues with CrystalWeb news servers downloading corrupted files. Like bits of other series are inside nzb's or their servers are renaming the files incorrectly?

Same here, spent a lot of time troubleshooting today with not much luck.

I doubt it is the news server. It could be the nzb that is coded with the wrong stuff. Which nzb is it that give you these "junk" files? Where did you get it?

Nothing wrong with CW server. the nzb is coded wrong. got this thread named "Married.at.First.Sight.US.S02E13.The.Big.Decision.720p.WEBRip.x264-SRS.part19" All show as sleepy hollow in Grabit, but when it decode it is something else.

I don't know what it is but now my downloads is also stuffed with a lot of threads incomplete.

NextGenNews (Crystal Web's Usenet provider) is having issues with data corruption (again) it seems. Using Astra or Diamond works flawlessly, but with the same nzb NextGenNews fails.

Not sure about the Internet Solutions server, however.
