EDIT: Not blaming CW here, as I know this is telkom cause everything was fine 2 weeks ago and I see this on all accounts. Just saying some poeple are complaining about 300ms latency, just be happy it is only that high.

Looks like your Exchange is congested. That second hop is crazeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Lol right, but it was a very sudden shift. 2 weeks ago the second hop was around 100-200ms, so high but I could deal. Then suddenly when the notices came that Telkom were doing work it literally shot up in the space of a day and stayed there. I mean 2 seconds to the exchange dafaq! Sometimes I will get readouts of 50% packet loss at the exchange.

So ja FML.

Telkom technicians will be around soon, you have to pay for packets now as per law. It because you blerrie buggers keep littering packets like that all over the show.

How would that solve the complaints? It will only make it worse, and lose them customers.

You make is sound like everyone who uses the internet in SA uses Torrent downloading, which they don't.

I never Torrent as I have no need to.

To be honest, I know that it's the downloaders that impact the highest on network services, so in fact, if you took them out of the equation, then an ISP would be able to provide a much better service overall.

It was just a thought and just my opinion. I know that if for example, Crystal Web created "Crystal Stream" and it was an ISP that blocked all downloading of Torrents and made this very clear to all it's users, then I would happily sign up for that......

As I said, just a thought....

@CW I know that at least one person has used my referral code, yet the discount isn't reflected in my invoice. :erm:

will take a look if there is a general snafu (and get it fixed for all) but please note it on the billing portal

Wheres the billing portal? I get directed to usage.

Yaa hey no luck on my side either.
line was fine from 4 this morning till 4 pm and now it chugging along at 100k now on a 10 meg line
no P2P or torrents, just 5 session FTP

mine does not look like it is exchange congestion, just Account is shaped or throttled.
granted i have moved a bit of data today when line was full speed.

I will do some further testing with HTTP and Youtube etc

Results below were started while downloads still going so it would give better results when line is idle.

Can anyone recommend an alternative ISP? I'm done with CrystalWeb. They are certainly not what they promised they would be. Their attitude is crap and I'm done. Paul, the director of CW has absolutely no interest in his business and couldn't be arsed. Shaun the MD has disappeared off mybroadband and has not been heard from in these forums for a long time. Basically, they are just as bad as Afrihost, MWEB, OpenWeb etc

Now, is there any other decent ISP around?

Wow, I thought Openweb was bad.
No response for Ticket I opened last night. Account is scheduled for cancellation though.
So they ask for diagnostics and say all is fine on their end yet I can barely surf.
I ask support to do something and all they can say is "Your account is scheduled for cancellation"
So basically I just paid for a crap account for this month and there is nothing they will do as I have cancelled.
World Class Service!

I know my line stats are a bit worse than what they were before I moved, but really this on a 4mb prem uncapped?
This after forcing Youtube to 720p, always defaults to 240p.

That's a bit rough, not supporting clients...cancelled or otherwise. However, if diagnostics are coming up fine, I suspect something else is at play?

the "status" of a customers account is of no relevance to the support function itself
I will be touching base with the support staff over the last week to check that a customer hasn't been refused assistance for something like this - it would be a disciplinary offense -
HOWEVER where a customers is wanting assistance on a DSL circuit that has been returned to Telkom the support staff are unable to assist and the customer needs to contact Telkom

Similarly the official support channel is email and live chat.

Just had Ryno from support help out and my internets seems to be blazin' as it once was. Happy chappy now. :)

When I switched to a Telkom account everything worked fine so not sure what else is at play here.

Thanks to Shaun who is a rockstar, my 40mb line with business capped runs like an absolute dream.
