No issue here:

It's sad to see that CrystalWeb's presence on this forum is starting to follow a certain other ISP that they said they would never become. :(

I wonder what the competition has to offer...

Ironically this has been pointed out to them by many, including myself, in great detail and in conjunction with Afrihost's recent fall from grace it's worrying to see they aren't doing much to fix the perception that they're heading the way of OW.

Half-line speed NNTP and torrents, passable Youtube and Netflix experience @ 9pm during a week day.

Have you tried using their official support channels?

Seemed fine last week, now slow again.

Tried to download PhpStorm, said 15 minutes to download. Switched to my Vox account and finished in one minute.

I've been having the same youtube issues for the last couple of weeks, my backup account works flawlessly.... uncapped premium is not what it once was.

I contacted support, ran the mttr tests, no exchange congestion, even the mttr download from sourceforge was a painful 11kbps.
CW Technical support can't help, "(07:16:11 PM) Support Sergeant: No I'm sorry, everything checks out on our side"

My theory is this:
New ISP launches and they buy loads of bandwidth and offer an awesome experience, this creates hype and all disgruntled users hop on over to the new ISP, at this stage the business model starts to fold, either projected bandwidth is not sustainable at the cost model so they lower the quality or they attempt to source alternative providers to cut costs. Some users stay on hoping that things get better, others jump ship. Once the reputation is fairly degraded a new ISP starts up and the cycle continues.

Honestly they started out super promising, coming from OW it was really "internet bliss" but lately it's been "internet piss".

Not sure what I'm going to try next but whatever it is they wont manage my DSL line as the telkom transfer 10 day waiting period is a hassle.

And no CW, don't even offer to assist, I'm done.

What makes it worse is this line from the "Management Message" email we all recieved:

... We have appointed *insert name here* as Support Manager, and he is also looking after MyBroadband at the moment ...

Paul seems to be more active than the guy looking after the forum at the moment which does not seem right IMO.

Also where is the communication follow up "within 7 days" email? I am reffering to this section of the email:

Various upgrades are being deployed to our network countrywide starting 26/06/2015 following updates from Telkom, and current ETA for end of all planned work and installations is 30/06/2015. This upgrade will resolve the additional contention being experienced by premium uncapped subscribers particularly in the Southern Regions (Cape). We have noted an increase in the number of complaints from home capped customers. This has been reported to our upstream provider who manage these profiles (rather than premium products where we manage them directly) and they are investigating. An official update will be communicated within 7 days.

That email was sent on June 25th, it is now the 8th of July. If we take it to mean that 7 days is 7 working days then we should have received an email on the 6th of July, 7th since work only started on the 26th, it is now the 8th. If we consider the complaints about Youtube being locked at a certain speed as well as torrents for certain customers/accounts then this means the upgrade has not been completed. Or maybe the update email was sent to the home capped guys directly? Yes I am being hard on them by missing their target but CrystalWeb set the bar pretty high when they started out...

So CrystalWeb it is like this, if you want to regain your top spot on the forums you need to communicate the way you did before. If you are just going to ignore the complaints and hope they blow over then I can see you failing, which is a shame considering that CrystalWeb did some truly amazing things when they started on here...

/I wonder if this will get a response or if it will get ignored...

Side note, did anyone get a payment confirmation email? I'm still waiting for mine...

Official Crystal Web ADSL performance feedback thread Part 3...

I think CW is going to collapse. I don't think they have what it takes to be a serious ISP or the funds for that matter. I think it will be just a matter of time before they close shop. I don't see them ever being a truly competitive ISP bringing a true internet experience to the South African market.

I just had a client I referred to CrystalWeb cancel his account today. His words were literally that CrystalWeb is the worst ISP he's ever used. Saying that even MWEB on their bad days gave him a better internet experience. He will most likely also cancel his business account for his business. I am actually embarrassed. I spoke so highly of CrystalWeb and now I look like a complete dumbass.

Sad to see how quickly CW has tumbled.

DJ has been MIA, Paul prefers to spend his time arguing with mods on other threads instead of responding to urgent PM's and trying to help his clients on mybb.

There is just no hope for CW.

While the end of the world was being announced here, I've had another flawless evening of streaming from HBO NOW. Deliverance and Foo Fighters Sonic Highways x3, all while editing large documents in Dropbox (lots of Ctrl+S). Last night it was John Wick (um, ja) and Sonic Highways x1. Excellent stream quality all round.

Premium Uncapped 4Mbps, and (yes) I'm in Durban.
