Been having problems streaming for a while. But last night I noticed something. I have a 4mb line and I use my ps3 as media player. I use Unotelly as my DNS provider.
What I picked up last night was, that when I input manual Unodns servers on my PS3, my speed drops down to 2.4 - 2.5mb when doing a speedtest. I'm using CPT and JHB servers. But when I leave dns servers to automatic, my speed shoots up to 3.3 -3.5mb. Now I know the PS3 speedtest is not really accurate, but the results are constant.
Also, when I use Unodns settings on my router and run speedtest from my PC, everything runs normally. Gets speeds of 3.6mb. But when I do speedtest from my PS3, I get 2.5mb. And it is a new router. So that's not the problem.
So my question is. Are the PSN, together with with Unodns getting speedlimited? Chatted with support last night, but the consultant couldn't help me.

Possibly getting routed to a server that's further away when using UnoTelly.

No?

Does your PlayStation use the same server as the PC?

Yes, when I use Unotelly DNS servers on my router. PC speed is 3.5 - 3.6mb. But on my PS3 it's 2.5mb.
This wasn't always like this. Only now recently when CW started having problems.

I've seen similar results for ages. UnoDNS' redirection also causes the PS3 to run a speedtest with a different server based on the region you select in Dynamo. If you turn off routing for Sony devices specifically, it might improve your download speeds.

Went on holiday for a month , only to come back to see my account is up to its old tricks again , 2.5Mbps on a 4Mb premium line...

I have a similar issue when trying to watch HBO on my Xbox vs HBO on my smart tv. Better speeds on the tv app

What do you mean better speeds?

It also depends on what profile the Xbox is requesting vs the Smart TV. If the Xbox version of the app requests the videos in higher quality, it will look worse/stutter vs what the TV does.

I am assuming better speeds as the TV app was better quality with no buffering, where the Xbox app was lower quality and buffering every couple
Minutes.

It probably boils down to the Xbox app being poorly written.

I understand not being able to download all day but when i cant play dota because the line is so slow then there is no excuse. CW wtf is going???
