Ok , I know you have a 10Gb/s link to play with

How is the buffering / handling a not so good connection ?

Haha. At home I run standard CW premium home uncapped 10Mbps and 20Mbps on my second line. I recall a buffer a few days ago. Lasted about 3 seconds. In all honesty I think I've seen it buffer once every two weeks, but my lines are in great shape on large Telkom backhaul so no congestion related issues or line problems. Our network is perfect for streaming. I stream Hulu, Netflix, Amazon Prime, HBO, and, um, our own service releasing soon...

Ok, you own service ? only supported on pc/laptop or apps for adroid/ios/linux ?

The unlimited midnight express will work irrespective of whether the cap has been reached or not. So for all intents and purposes it is separate (if I understand the question correctly)...

Let me rephrase: Does midnight express data count towards the monthly cap? For example, he totals 15GB (lets say he uses 4GB during the day and 11GB during the midnight express on the first week). Does it count as 15GB or 4GB at the end of the week?

It's awesome that it's 100GB plus uncapped (essentially). But if the uncapped portion blasts the capped portion, it's a bit whacky. Still, 25GB per week is more than generous in terms of usage, but being cut off if it's exceeded due to uncapped glory during the night makes it tough (especially when one still wants to use the internet during the day!).

I want to get him to trial an account, but he currently has one of dem FON routers. He will purchase a router from our store. But he has only heard good things from me with regards to online gaming so he is definitely keen to hop on the CW express train :)

No midnight data doesn't count towards your cap at all. It's completely separate...

Hey guys, exciting stuff happening I see. Will the current capped profiles be converted to the new midnight express ones? Will we be billed the now cheaper price for Oct?

Thanks
They have already been converted with higher caps and unlimited midnight data, and yes all existing customers will automatically benefit from the new pricing from the next invoice...

Hi. I am on AH business uncapped which is unshaped. Do you have something similar for me to consider?

What's your typical monthly usage and what's the net used for primarily?

I can suggest something based on your needs rather than a comparison of another ISP's accounts, which I think is far better...

Don't mess with us here.

You know people get serious when you talk about streaming services in SA.

Any plans on sport streaming? Will to pay a "premium" (no more than R300) for EPL, La Liga n UCL in HD.

EDIT: Also, do you need testers? I will literally have nothing to do in about 2 weeks till I start board prep. You can trust I'll keep it confidential, auditors word and all that.

I typically use about 250 gb per month but have gone up to 350 gb per month. I mainly use the following:
P2p using a vpn for privacy
YT
Email, browsing, pc updates
Console updates and downloads (xone and ps4)
Many android apps that require Internet access.

Don't really do online gaming, netflix etc although that might change if I can get an isp that actually works.

No plans for sport streaming (on release). That's something to fight for another day.

In terms of testing we're good for now I'm afraid. Appreciate the offer though...

What's your line speed?

4mbps - my town is not considered profitable to upgrade by Telkom.

How about a capped account for this? 325GB capped with unlimited data between midnight and 6am. Should be ideal for your needs and if you see you're approaching your cap you can simply schedule a game download here and there for midnight for the month? Works out cheaper for you, and you get great speeds on what you need.

My only concern, and the reason I am not suggesting home uncapped, is that you use a VPN for p2p. VPN traffic is encrypted to us, and because some users try to use VPNs to bypass shaping we have no choice but to assign it a lower priority on shaped packages. So if the network contends, it contends this protocol first on home uncapped users for example. That's not to say the performance is poor, but if you want great speeds your best bet is to either not encrypt it, or to opt for a capped package for your specific needs...

Just P2P via the VPN during the unlimited download period if it's not time sensitive.

The network is more or less unshaped during that time.

I get decent speeds on a 10mb line on normal P2P during that time.

Plus, you won't need such a high peak cap, so smaller account n less cost.

I have no problem with a capped account.
May I ask - will the account be shaped at certain times?
