DJ, CW. You guys going to be bringing 1mbps accounts out in the future? Just thinking that the Telkom price for a 1mbps circuit is a bargain and that I might go that route when my area gets some form of ADSL.

I must admit, that I am disappointed that there is no mention/warning that when you migrate your DSL account to another ISP that there is no mention that you would be limping on a 2Mbs low speed - for up to 14 days. :( Working from home, that is like running in syrup.
No poke at CW, just a heads up would have been appreciated so that I could have planned it better.

So one actually has some form of ADSL connectivity during the transfer period ok. Because from this http://mybroadband.co.za/news/adsl/...line-transfer-policy-will-cause-downtime.html i actually thought one would be completely cut off during the transfer

We may. Not on the product list right now, but is on the radar to release...

Okay, I was chugging along nicely on 20Mbs, telkom controlling my DSL line. I decide, WTF, CW is doing a fantastic job, give them my line control as well. A page or three back in this thread, you will see the frustration and down-time I had dealing with Hellkom.

Third time round, switched into the Holding Pool and my lovely Internet from 20Mbs down to 2Mbs.
36 Hours later I get this lovely message: (see attached), WTF!!!!! All I want is internet!!! I am getting seriously pissed off that this simple exercise cannot be achieved.

I should have rather let sleeping b!tches lie!!! :( :(

Patrick, if the line is not processed correctly by Telkom there is absolutely nothing, and I mean nothing, we can do from our side. If it comes back as other operator active, it means Telkom have not correctly moved it into the holding pool. We use the Telkom system to 1) perform that check, and 2) process the migration. It's the same system, so it will simply not allow us to process the migration if it's not in the pool (i.e comes back with the error you just received).

We've actually now had to deal with so many of these cases that we are re-evaluating offering lines entirely as this nonsense from Telkom is impacting on us negatively and taking up a considerable amount of time here. The unfortunate bit is that this should go into a Telkom feedback thread, and not ours. Have a word with them, find out the exact date they are going to actually process the migration 100%, and we'll sort it out. As you can tell based on the feedback we have provided you, we are certainly doing our jobs on the migration, and performing all necessary checks and balances...

Hi DJ,

Please accept my apologies, as I was not pointing fingers at CW with this regard, but rather the frustration that Telkom is deliberately putting us through to nearly force us to stay with them.
You remember my earlier postings where Telkom actively denied me TWICE that they are able to do a line migration, to this level that they are now forcing me to contact them tomorrow, very likely after 2 or 3 "don't knows" or contact this number, then maybe get through to somebody that is slightly gifted in the knowledge of communication, getting them to edit/correct any previous erroneous entries. Fvck me rather come pull my fingernail and teeth out one-by-one.

NO reflection on CW as they have been totally upfront and clear with me.. Just venting my anger and frustration at this inept guavamunt that we live in!

http://watchcric.net/ buffering, anybody else have the problem or a better live source for cricket

Nothing to do with us. Those sorts of sources buffer on fibre lines. They're utterly useless in my experience at maintaining a stable set of streams. I unfortunately cannot recommend any free source, although I do have it streaming in HD on SuperSport here in the office...

Eish, did not point fingers DJ :)

Yeah does look like a "upstream" problem, ITV.com streams perfect

Supersport website seems to be having some major issues at the moment though.

The /supersport directory or server on their CDN is kaput. Oh dear...

Getting amazing performance on my home basic uncapped. But have a funny feeling that it's got to do with the mbb best isp survey! I actually cancelled my account with them early this week after consistently getting 1/6 my line speed.

Nothing has changed on that side with respect to the provisioning of these accounts...

DJ, a question about the home vs capped accounts. In some of the previous posts you mentioned that Home has priority on things like gaming ports where as business has priority on things like VOIP.

Are they completely different rule sets? Or does business = home + extra?
