Anyone else experiencing sluggish connections to local sites? International works fine.

Youtube is still broken for me. Rebooted the router to no avail. What's going on?

I can stream Twitch source quality no trouble, and speed tests look normal.

You said long ago. Was this while they were still on the Cybersmart network?

I didn't know that they were once on Cybersmart's network, so no idea.

OK. Back then things were very different...

Please explain what was different "back then".

I see you migrated from Afrihost to CW ... Could you please post what OS is running on your PC/device on which you are having issues with youtube?

Policies and quality on the Cybersmart network were very different to current policies and quality.

Huh? Sure things have changed but your reply is very vague ......

Getting to all posts shortly, but things were vastly different back then. Exactly how and why are not subjects for a public discussion for various reasons but the switch of backbones was necessary and has resulted in a drastic increase of quality of experience for our customers...

I don't want to badmouth Cybersmart.
I also don't have exact details of changes.

However, my experience on the cybersmart network was nowhere near as good as my experience on the new CW network. I have been a CW customer since May 2014...

Not able to replicate on my end nor with agents running tests on their lines as well. Have you spoken to anyone on support?

If streaming is working but one particular service is not, it's typically indicative of either a peering issue or an issue with that specific service itself. In this case we've confirmed no peering issues so it lends itself to the last outcome being more likely but difficult to say without proper tests. Not being able to replicate it also means a localised issue is very possible but operating on too little data here to work with. Always best to talk to the guys on support to assist...

Yup, we're pretty open about these things. We're busy upgrading 3 components of the network and introducing a brand new element as well, and while we expect minimal impact, some capacity comes on and off stream while doing so. So we'd rather be open and honest upfront about this than in any way pretend that nothing could be an issue on our side and deflect things. In this case however the network notice and Bryn's issue seem unrelated for the time being...

I saw this on the support desk at the time and am fairly certain you're in good hands with the agents addressing it. 3rd hop not reporting is incredibly odd and if it were on our network we'd see traffic die across the network. We've actually seen traffic spike instead so fairly certain given the limited info here that this is localised and not network related, but I must stress that the guys on support are always best positioned to assist as data posted here is typically insufficient to make any definitive statements about, whereas the guys on support know what they're looking for and escalate things immediately to me where we have on-net issues...

Youtube is working again. Not sure what the issue was. It was so useless just now that it took half a minute for a new page to even open on the site. Maybe a caching issue related to the fact that I was using my Afrihost rollover from last month for the last few days last month as my CW data was used up.

afrihost polluted your ADSL router with shaping and throttles and crud :D

Doesn't sound like a caching issue necessarily. Sounds more like perhaps a drive or set of drives were replaced and swapped out? Or, or, or. Or a drop in their international connection (they operate their own international connectivity BTW). But on our side YouTube is solid at the moment. Happy to hear back to normal for you...

Point taken ..... So, your migration path was: ISP ? (ADSL) --->CW ADSL ------> CW FTTH ?
