This issue isn't about my feelings, even though those have been ravaged.
It's about equality.

Imagine trawling this forum and not having a mouse and keyboard, in other words, no way to reply. Imagine me saying something you completely disagree with but being unable to voice your concern while seeing everyone else has the ability to do so.

Telling someone to grow a pair when they have no voice. That is akin to being okay with women not being able to vote and, while that is another topic, that kind of input is toxic to the matter at hand and has low value. Thank you for the bump.

You have a voice on this forum, but you might not have one on disqus. I won't even see anyones comments there, since I ignore disqus. Why are you so hung up about disqus (which is a bad platform anyway)?

Who actually moderates Disqus, does the website that uses the disqus plug-in assign one or do they employ their own moderators?

Also if your comments are consistently being flagged as spam it might help to just make another disqus account because if they are using AI to detect spam once it thinks you consistently post spam the AI can get stuck in a loop and just flag everything purely because your username posted it and it has “learned” that to be spam.
It’s very annoying though, similar things happen on Facebook where they make extensive use of AI to manage content and once the AI glitches around what you post it just flags near everything and there’s nothing you can do because there’s no human to talk to or escalate things to.

The Disqus moderation team/person is extremely biased or poorly trained in being non-biased. I am yet to find out who it is so I can address them directly, but MBB staff have been slow to address my requests and concerns (see "over a year now"). This is the type of service one comes to expect from many South African establishments, however, one would have expected more from this one, based on merit and gravitas.

They seem to defend their actions by quoting "the moderation team's decisions are final" as a blanket rule so as to not have to address contentions on a case-by-case basis. That is great for rapid control of issues but it's detrimental to overall fairness and equality. This is my issue with zero-tolerance policies as well. Each case is different.

I can only assume the forum moderators do not have contact with the Disqus moderators, which begs the question: How do we get in contact with them if not here?

If my phone doesn't work I can always send emails, yes, but that doesn't mean I should throw my phone away, I'd rather have it fixed. The quality may be bad and it's sometimes hard to hear, but everyone has that issue. I don't even have the luxury of that issue since mine won't turn on.

Moderation happens client-side, meaning it's MyBB that is in charge of its Disqus moderation.
There are many tools to help with that, including flagging and whitelisting which would solve this issue, albeit on a case-by-case basis.
It would be weird if my comments were automatically tagged as spam since they do not contain what I see as spam trigger words or links, but I have seen worse AI before and am surely not ruling that out.
There is an option to tag your wrongfully flagged posts so a real moderator can look at them, which I did, and it's been over 4 months now with no change or feedback.
 
Have you maybe considered that the Disqus "moderation team" might actually be automated software?
How do I know this? I have experience with Disqus, and the auto-moderation that uses machine learning has been available for some time now... heck... 2019 if I recall correctly.

FWIW its not just here... other sites with Disqus too

MyBB's news discussions (aka Disqus) are nothing to do with the forum or its mods.
 
This is like when people (Karens) demand to be able to speak on a WA group (they must not be told to drop a subject, they must not be removed and their posts must not be removed), insisting they have the right to post what they want in the group, I'd love to see this right in the bill of Rights.

From what I understand Mybroadband doesn’t particularly want comment engagement on their main website, hence why they made the comments section in recent years as inconspicuous as possible and you have to expand it to see anything. That’s where they make the money, posting advertorials and such, they don’t won’t inconvenient comments stuffing that all up and scaring the clientele away.

You aren’t going to win this one and their moderation of disqus is not a democrat process, you don’t have any inherent right to free speech there, if they don’t like what you post and they remove it that’s it, they aren’t going to explain why or give any reason, which is why they have been ghosting you regarding their moderation choices. I’d give up right now because that’s not going to change and it’s much more fun in the forums anyway…

Also note that while there is moderation in the forum, there is a lot less Orwellian moves I notice in recent months
