I have setup a private DNS mainly to block ads and malware as per below screenshot

I'm also using cloudflare warp mainly to make browsing more responsive(better routing). My understanding is that if you use cloudflare wrap it will use the cloudflare dns and not my private dns.

The strange thing is that if I use cloudflare wrap ads still gets blocked. How is it possible because cloudflare dns doesn't block ads?

DNS gives you the destination address not a map on how to get there.

I'm assuming cloud flare warp doesn't use its own dns server if you've set up a private one. Pure conjecture though

Are you sure all traffic is going through WARP? Because from the docs it seems to indicate DNS resolution will definitely happen through CF's servers (the 1.1.1.1 service). It also makes sense since part of WARP is to give you private browsing which would be negated if your system used your ISP's DNS to lookup queries first and then connected via WARP as that is trackable and creates usable metadata on the ISP (another thing WARP claims to protect you from). It sounds to me like you're not routing DNS (or maybe anything else) through WARP?

I think most of my traffic is going through WRAP. I have done lots of traceroutes and most of the routes are optimized.

I think WRAP use 1.1.1.1 except if you setup a private DNS.
