Evetech disaster. Don't ever buy from them.

Bought a DAC (digital to analogue converter) in July. Faulty out the box. Send them an email. Back came reply "what do you wish us to do?" No response thereafter

FF to September, gave it a bit of stick. Now they want it back, so sent via Courier

Now November, they have been given a replacement.

I do not want a replacement. When the device failed to work and there was minimal response from them, I bought a different make, which is 100%

Quoted the CPA to them, mentioning that I can choose a replacement or refund. Response is that CPA does not apply? Really?

Unless I'm mistaken, they are correct. According to the CPA (last time I checked), on first repair they have the option to repair or replace, before refund. If it fails again, then you can demand refund.

Last I checked its the buyers choice whether its refund or repair from fault one.

You are indeed correct, Sir. I retract my previous statement. It's at the discretion of the consumer, not the supplier as I previously thought. Thanks for the correction!

Update: Evetech got back to me. They will send me a new replacement. So this is probably the 3rd or 4th time I have returned something and got a replacement/fix/refund successfully. Ranging between R2000 and R25 000.

Just note before you buy:

1. Support is slow, even though they do have an RMA system, it needs some work.
2. If you send emails you most probably will have to phone also etc. So as long as they have working phone numbers you should be fine. (Some companies are moving towards email only.)
3. Shipping is on the customer there AND back. (Although they said they will pay for shipping back this time. Thank you Evetech.) I always knew I have to pay shipping to get the item there under warranty, they used to cover the fees back. But that has changed.

Also note they wanted to charge me R400 to courier the item to them. I did it myself via Courierguy for R100.
The extremely high shipping courier fees they charge does not make sense to me, so just use your own.

21 working days today for sending an item back to Evetech under warranty. No response from them and no response on my emails dated a week ago....
Wouldn't be surprised of they have a policy of making the process for customer warranty claims painfully slow, expensive and drawn out, because they know a percentage will eventually decide to just forfeit the warranty/item. They know they have your balls in a vise by that stage so why not exploit the situation.

Common tactic for shady operators, sucks but that's what this thread is for.

Shopping at Evetech - save now pay later.

I don't get that idea. I think they have communication issues within the company. I also think their RMA system has some flaws. I have been buying from them for a very long time. The support side has gone backwards as more people started buying.

Why? Because it runs at 100MHz higher clocks etc?
That's what I also wish to know. Have just checked again and it's still at that high price at Wootware, yet I can find an Asus GTX 1080 ROG-STRIX 8GB at the same Wootware for R10,699 (contact for availability) or even Zotac GTX 1080 AMP Edition for R8,445 at Raru.

Customer support isn't hard and I'm sure many have complained about the experience, if management cared or wanted to they could at least get the communication side of rma's right but they haven't, obviously suits them better the way it is now.

I also paid my school fees with them, selling single DIMM sticks as duel sticks etc. I won't be using them again.

It seems they r unbeatable when it comes to lowest prices on hardware. Looking at that aspect, it was quite easy for me to buy from them as I almost never seem to require after sales support from these stores and only want to start using the goods after some careful price and value research that includes reading a lot of reviews.

Are you a runner for Evetech?

They had a support side?

Nope, just want the cheapest prices for quality hardware. Is that a bad thing these days?
No, not at all. As long as you except the issues, high courier fees and long waiting times that comes with after sales support it is fine. So far I had to return at least 3 or 4 expensive items under warranty.

Hi. It seems to be the best value 1070 TI in the market and for now it does look like Evetech is a bit cheaper than others but not by much. The one that I am really hoping to buy by December is the EVGA 1070 TI GPU but for now that is also in the more than R10, 000 range everywhere.

At R8099 it is within spitting distance of some of the more affordable GTX 1080 and RTX 2070 cards.

Update : I have ordered the case and power supply over the weekend and they were delivered today. The case looks a bit bigger than what I thought and it is bigger than my old Huntkey H201 case but it is fully modular and that was the reason I bought it. Delivery through Raru is so slow compared to Evetech, wonder why?

I will assemble the build and check if it's running well and perhaps look for some left over deals on a GPU after December but definitely not anything AMD or the Nvidia RTX nonsense. But so far Evetech wins for ease of order, tracking of order and fast delivery of items ordered. :)

I see Evetech is on a marketing campaign.
