Hi folks

I have contacted all the relevant people in the DoC and Government regarding the price of broadband. I included a list of articles related to the ICASA hearings and the fact that this exorbitant pricing is hampering our economy. I have also done a press release related to this issue. Let’s hope the ICASA recommendations are what we expect and that this correspondence convinces government that it is time to act.

Great going rpm! Your perceveirence and dedication is much appreciated!

Yes with double line rental out of the way most of us will opt for a 30 gb account with axxess and still pay less than we pay now. And if they sort the high bandwidth costs, then we can pay even less than that. They said we are 400% more expensive on bandwidth? That means an axxess 30gb account can go for R150. Thats the kind of prices I want to see. Uncapped at R200 - R250. When the day arrive I will have tears of joy.

Thanks for the hard work rpm!

Great work rpm !! Your hard work is much appreciated.

Hi guys

Thanks for the support. I think the ICASA report will be released at the end of May, so not a bad time to push the issue now. I will also do my best to get this mentioned in parliament and/or the relevant committees, but unfortunately I do not have control over this. I am confident that our work now will result in a larger reduction of prices later this year…

Thanks as well to everybody that continues to support MyADSL by visiting the site, reading the news and reading/posting on this forum. It is this ‘community’ that makes us a force that is becoming harder and harder to ignore.

Regards,

RPM

Great work man

Thanx for all the great work man. I know I don't need it at the moment bec I just moved to London in December but SA is in a real need of a change. I've been following this from here for the past couple of weeks and I really hope the government makes a change. There is no need for Telkom or any other company to charge so much for broadband over there. So many more people will take up broadband in SA if it were cheaper.

Over here the fastest internet provider, ukonline, gives you an 8MB line with 500GB/month download allowance for £29.99/month which is still way cheaper than anything back in SA. My housemate is with BT and pays £29.99/month with 30gig/month allowance, we're supposed to have a 2MB line but we are too far from exchange so we have to live with 1MB line until they upgrade line in future.

So I think that Telkom should at least give you a 30gig allowance not unlimited bec BT doesn't over here. Hell is gonna freeze over before Telkom gives unlimited accesss!! A lot of ISP's give unlimited access over here but you gonna need a lot more competition for that back in SA.

Well lets just hope for the best guys.

BIG THANK YOU to rpm for such outstanding dedication to the cause. Most people, including myself would have thrown in the towel, but rpm is like the duracell bunny :) .
