FNB Connect Uncapped ADSL Feedback

Upload speeds will generally always be a little funky over wifi when doing speedtests. They normally always report higher if the test is short.

Yup, it was the WiFi.......but speeds on both Fnb uncapped and TI rather shyte at the moment....get less than 1mb on 2mb line

Well then it sounds like an issue with your line, router or wifi. 1. try connect an Ethernet cable from your router to your computer and do a speed test. If this is still slow, it is most likely your line. If you have a spare router, try that to rule out the router.

Also try a free capped account from another provider such as Afrihost or Web Africa as I mentioned previously.

The guys

Was the router that I use for my WiFi only, the PC was also plugged in there. A magic reboot sorted it out

Considering getting the 4mb line with the changes to eBucks in October. Anybody have current input on how well the lines hold up for streaming and home WiFi?

Performs very well, get full line speed and smooth streaming on Netflix and Hulu. PROVIDED you stay within 10Gig per day, otherwise they start to throttle.

At which quality level do you stream? Does 1080 also run without issue or would one need to settle for 720?

10 gig doesn't sound too bad. How many hours would that work out for different quality levels more or less?

10GB per day? Where did you find out about this limit?

It was discussed in another FNB Uncapped thread. But that is how FNB prevent abusing on their accounts if you try and download 24/7.

10gb seems quite fair just wondering if it is in writing somewhere on their site

Nope not in writing. One of the early testers found it out from support. He downloaded a lot, then got throttled, and after asking support why his speeds are super low, that was the explanation given.

Further testing done by users at the time confirmed this rule.

When using less than 10Gig a day, you can be assured of 100% line speed, and HD streaming without buffering.

And a note that the 10Gig is applicable to any line speed, 4meg or 10meg.

I get the 4meg uncapped for free, and only use it as backup, using VOX now.

No telephone support after hours and on weekends.
You need to sent them an email, then they call you.

Also one of the gripes I had with them.

If I was getting something heavily subsidised to the point of it being free, I would naturally expect things to go wrong because in life, you get what you pay for, and in this case, you're paying for nothing, well, with funny money which means nothing anyway, so have a friekken backup account for the times when things don't work FFS!

I bank with std bank, the only thing stopping me from moving over is that std bank have **** load more atms than fnb, and they work the best too, they spit the card out pronto, not like all the others that return it as if they have a prostate issue, there's always one around when you need one, etc :P

Then again, you have the interest free ipad deal - wake up std bank? Hope you reading this!!

Sorry fnb for derailing your thread :(

EDIT: Don't take this as me tuning you, not at all :)
