FNB duplicate transaction problem - what to do

I see my money has been returned.

Don't they have systems in place to stop this happening in the first place?

Tried unsuccessfully to make a once off payment on Saturday afternoon using the FNB app when purchasing something from a guy with no credit card machine. Massively irritated with FNB. Could have cost me several hours if I had to go and get cash. Shockingly, I was rescued by Absa. The end is nigh.

It's pretty serious... How can this happen though? Can't transfer funds.

My account is right now but it is irritating that in order for them to fix it, they made a negative SARS transaction to my account which cancelled the duplicate sars payment and then they made a positive virgin active transaction to undo the double gym payment. The issue here is that these transactions are going to be on everyone's statements and will be added to the money in/money used section of the statement. For people who now need to use this month's statement for a credit application like a bond or new car, these transactions are going to affect affordability!

I'm sure FNB will sort it out... patience guys, patience.
I've never had any issues with FNB, complain to the right person or go into the branch and bam, they sort it out.
And that's not me just saying I've had 1 or 2 issues, I've had many and all get sorted.
Same here I have those double debit orders but it's the first major issue otherwise I still like my bank

internet banking seems to be down.

"Service Unavailable

The service is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later."
Funny enough the app was working but it's not the best way to do multiple business transactions

There is always a bright side: if your SCAMRAL etrolling debit orders bounce whilst you are transitioning from FNB to Nedbank, you can temporarily join the majority of people who are not paying :)
Lol, hasn't been forgotten

This, I work in the financial field and have been involved in something like this before, customers should not have to do anything at all. Keep calm and carry on everybody :)
I agree, there is no way they can't fix this. I only feel pity for the people who were running on a low tank as this might have swept clean their accounts

All my transactions made on the 3rd were doubled. I didn't even know about it until I checked my account now. Everything has been reversed and my account is all square again. I guess glitches happen from time to time.

The fsckers have just sms'd me apologising for the duplicate transactions.

Yet when I checked my balance just now ,they have charged me some double transactions but also penalties for my transactions that failed because my account didn't have enough funds.
Since its all automated the system would just charge you when DOs bounce despite the reason why there funds are insufficient

Well..they sorted the **** up out pretty fast. DO charges and the like will be fixed too, priority obviously to reverse primary transactions first to allow Online functionality again...and then clean up the rest.

This is just harsh for those having double debit orders going off. Poor FNB customers!

Wonder how many will jump ship over this? :p

No reason to jump ship in my case. They are still the best bank by far. Sh_t happens My double payment was sorted out the same day.

For those who might be thinking of changing banks because of this, you might want to think twice. No safe haven, ish happens sometimes

They reversed all my duplicate transactions before I even realised there were duplications.

Agree. I've just done a quick search and Standard Bank and ABSA have both been in the media in the past about double debiting glitches. This stuff happens, it gets corrected, that's it.
