Ola chaps (Fiesta I'm looking at you)

It's time I swap my car out, currently driving a sonic 2013 sedan and I've been looking at something around 150-200k.

I've been tempted to go for a 2017 Focus but I've read there's a face-lift coming out this year, so I'm worried about overpaying for something that will take a hit when the new model comes out. Is my thinking correct?

Alternatively any suggestions other than VW would be appreciated. Looking for something that will have a decent resale value, good on fuel, has a motor plan and comfortable. I work from home so don't do too much driving which is why I don't want to spend too much.

Thanks bois.

There's an All new model coming out not a facelift.

Which spec level focus were you looking at so we can find an alternative?

Ah thanks, so best to avoid? Just the basic spec 1l eco boost Ambiente, not really too brand picky but I'd like something decent. Looked at ecosport but don't need an suv.

Main things are :
Lowish mileage
Holds its value somewhat
In warranty and service plan
Would like 2015 or newer

I've looked at i20s, Fiestas, Corollas, Suzuki but I don't really like them.

Thanks dude, liking that Astra. The mokka is one I really scratched my head over, I like it and test drove it but I don't need something that size and couldn't find many with low KM. The captur I had a look at last night but am worried about it holding its value, even though the original owner would have taken the hit. Given me some ideas though, thanks.

I'll be selling it, owe around 10k on it so will use the sale money for deposit on new car.
Did you factor it into the budget ?
If you didn't then that means the budget can increase slightly and you can probably find a higher specced Astra.

As stated an all-new model due late this year in SA.

I think the current pre-f/lift model is a great option.

A big part of that is the value factor. Due to the demand you get better value from a Focus than a Fiesta (at times)!

Save even more an aim a low mileage 2016 or late 2015 model.

1L EcoBoost is fine but not the poverty spec Ambiente, Trend is the way to go.

Really try & get the model with the Techo Pack (or whatever it is called) as it adds Sync 2 or 3 (in 2017 models). That will help came resale time when you are going to flog it + it has some nifty tech to make life that bit easier.

You didn't mention Sedan or Hatch so I am going to assume Hatch. If you want the bigger boot volume go for the Sedan & save even more.

Let us know what you decide on

Ha unfortunately I did factor it into the budget.

,anyway, the Astra I posted still has better specs than the focus
Yeah, I could afford quite a bit more but not driving alot is a big factor too. Don't want to drop 200k+ on something I'll drive less than 10k a year in.

So after much deliberation and searching I'm still stuck on a 2017 focus, really can't find as much bang for buck elsewhere. :(
