Frogfoot Port Elizabeth

I regret moving from Openserve to Frogfoot. Been with them since beginning of July and experience at least 2 hours a week downtime for no reason. Going on an hour already today and 2 hours yesterday. Absolutely pathetic.
 
Well the changes seem to be keeping me connected but at an expense...incredibly high latency both locally and internationally.

Back to 4G then
 
This service is rubbish if I have to be honest. It's a nightmare to VPN to work at night. I'd advise everyone to register interest with other FNO's so that they can expand their infrastructure to provide more competition to this inferior network.

What your isp ? Your work vpn where it "located" country/city

ISP: Vox

VPN: PE (I guess?) since server is on work premises.

I work on Syspro and when this crap starts it kicks me off immediately. Impossible to run certain reports.

Irrespective of the above - the experience is rubbish either way.

Using a laptop?
How long do this last?
If portable can try goto someone and test if it better there ?

Yeah, I am using a laptop. WiFi all over the house is rock solid.

I will just arrange to go to the office and run the reports there. It's hard enough assisting others as it is as they are sitting at home too. There is a generator to combat load shedding at work so I won't have lost time like today which is what is grinding my gears even more at the moment.

Thanks for the offer though, I appreciate it. I do have a place where I can go to with a stable connection. (Openserve can you believe it)

Seeing as we're paying a lot of money monthly for this crap, I don't really see the need for there to be any workaround whatsoever - like driving around to get a better connection. It reminds me of the days where I had to walk up a hill to make phone calls - now instead of walking, I have to drive.

Furthermore, the response from the Frogfoot rep in this thread is dismal at best. If I gave a response to a customer like that we would have 1 less customer.

I'll happily fork out more for another FNO should they come lay cables. I'm hoping that Openserve replaces the copper infrastructure in the neighbourhood with fibre so I can jump ship. Yeah yeah, Telkom in green, oh wait, Frogfoot is green too...

Vumatel
SADV
Metrofibre (looks like Vumatel)

If there are any others that I missed, please advise. I'll happily pay for something that works.

I have a theory some isps handle frogfoot limitations better than others , on our neighborhood Facebook group people are complaining about eg buffering etc , or dropped connections , where my line rather stable.

Would like to figure out if i just don't feel the "problem" or our isp somehow have a more stable connection due to taking a different route.
 
Does anyone have feedback from Cool Ideas on Frogfoot in PE ? I'm also beginning to think some ISP's may handle the "congestion" better than others in the evenings.
 
Since installation two weeks ago, my connection has been rock solid day and night.

Man this is really starting to get annoying; its like Clockwork; from 7pm till about 11pm the internet is unusable, massive packet loss and pings are to about 1000ms, and there just isint any word of a resolution insight.
 
Yes and I received a call today from my ISP who were doing a follow up...I did not have many issues last so stated things look better but this started at 8pm tonight...Capture.PNG

Experiencing the exact same thing you are mentioning above and that is the time I want to actually use it...beyond infuriating.

Cannot game due to disconnects, packet loss and a ping which fluctuates between 400-999+ constantly before disconnecting.
 
Yes every night for the last 3 or 4 days there have been problems.

So what do you guys think apparently they routed through Cape Town again which brought my ping down from 40ms to 28ms ,but packet loss is a big issue.

Do you guys prefer higher latency to JHB with less packet loss or being routed through CPT with increased packet loss?
