Help with smart phone please

Would look for a family member upgrading from a oldish Samsung Galaxy. Look for one with a scratch free screen & then replace the battery.

Also throw in some money so that the kid can buy some apps etc. (People keep buying 7k phones and then refuse to buy R20 apps to improve functionality...wtf)
 
Think I will need to draw up a spreadsheet with all the wanted specs and price comparisons to find the best option....just for interest sake. How many of you also agree to stay away from BB?....android does have by far the most apps I know
The Huawei....will not be included :p
 
Ok we've done some comparisons..and the kid guided me with likes and dislikes.

bb Z10 is out the window...She's now set on the Acer Liquid E3 @ R2430 from Kalahari....Problem now is, how long will we have to wait since I hear their service went down the loo :erm:

Used the HiSense phone today and the screen is large enough to give you the impression of using a tablet and the pixel density is high enough to give a smooth experience. I think the screen might be too large for people with small hands and small pockets but it's a snappy device at such a low price.
 
Using the Alcatel C7 and for R1899 is a pretty good handset. Quad Core, 3G with 1GB ram and 5mp camera. I think thats good value for money. Huawei also have the Y600 for R1999 which is also a 5 inch device
 
3 people in my office are on the Zest T1 and are very happy with it. also going through afrihost gives you data, a factor I feel you did not consider...

My kids phone....from what I can see not bad at all and it was a concern for her as well. She's very very happy with it
 
I'd recommend Moto G/E . Android 5.0 was just released which is a huge update .

I don't think anything other than a Motorola will get an update in this price range.
 
Saw the the 530 for like 1500 with a free headphones at one of the clothing stores
