There are rumors that HoloLens 2 (code-named Sydney) mixed reality headset will be announced later this year with a release date sometime in 2019, according to The Verge. The Verge’s sources said it is expected to arrive in the second half of 2018. The second generation of the HoloLens is expected to have a more comfortable feel, a decrease in weight and a better field of view compared to its predecessor. Plus it is rumored to have a cost reduction.
Other details that The Verge’s sources divulged include the HoloLens 2 having an ARM-based processor, which should improve battery life. And the HoloLens 2 will also have a custom AI chip for improving performance and an updated Kinect sensor.
