I jump in the pool almost every morning after my run - my tolerance for cold has improved drastically.
His basic cold training program (winhof method) was interesting and can recommend it if you can stomach it. I do cold showers; especially after a kettlebell workout.

Yeah, I read up a bit on him and his techniques. Then I looked outside and saw my ice cold pool, and thought, let's try this.

I usually spend about 2-3min at a time, and must confess that I have not jumped in if I did not go for a run (i.e. ambient body temp). Last year I was able to do this right through winter.

I sleep with 2 mobile hot water bottles.
With the cold even the cats have a temporary truce with the dogs and they will all snuggle together :-)

Indoor fireplace ..instead of firewood i collect free pinecones in Irene centurion and it works perfectly.

Midrand is not so cold really - at least not where we are. No heater throughout the night yet as duvets are sufficient so far. Heater is on between 7.30pm till 8.30pm just to get room a bit warm. During daytime, a 100 rand pnp fleece jacket seems sufficient.

no one using friction

You can burn alot of calories at the same time

Back in the day of electricity it was ducted air conditioning or heating that kept things civilised.
But alas, things have changed. Fire rules.

So now I'm left with 1 chair of what once was a 10 seater dining room suite.
If the temperature continues dropping this evening I'll probably be saying goodbye to a coffee table or two.

I wonder if my neighbor will notice if his wooden garage door goes missing.
