HTC Magic not rejoining Cellular data network when leaving wifi zone

I have been having this problem with my new HTC Magic from Vodacom (which I flashed the afternoon I got it with the new firmware from Leaf which contains the Android Market, so I have no comparison with the original build). When I leave my home, where it joins the Wifi network, it doesn't activate the cellular data connection, even though apps try to connect to the internet.

Has anyone else been experiencing this problem? I had a G1/Dream that I bought in Germany that never exhibited this behaviour. But I don't know whether this is a settings, software or hardware problem.

Sorry, my Magic switched between my home wifi and 3G with no problem.

My Magic also does this sometimes, but after awhile it comes right and "joins" cellular network

My magic also switches with no problems, sometimes it takes a min or 2 though
