I am BACK!!!!

Welcome back Shaun.

Sorry to bother you this soon after your return, but yeah, pls try and sort out the GMail problem...

Thank :)

shaun, could you please raise an issue to them about the Centurion tower :\ They are overloading it sideways now, making anything latency-reliant impossible

ps. im saying this without anger but you have no idea

*throws modem @ iburst shack*

Hi guys & gals,

Thanks for the welcome notes...

You have raised many individual issues e.g. gmail.

We are presently addessing all of these issues.

I will keep you posted.

Shaun, please be specific. Give us a list of all the issues that you are addressing here:
1)
2)
etc.

The reason that we want the list is to be sure that you are covering all the cracks.

Wishy-washy, warm feeling responses do not reflect well.

The helpdesk staff have no idea whether you are IT capable and have done this already, so its a good place to start. The problem comes when the helpdesk staff only know this one remedie to your problem, and after that they are stuck on how to fix your problem.

urm yeah but when you SPECIFICALLY tell them "hey I've changed the MTU my Inet WAS working fine, now it's gone to ****" their response is oh lets just go thru your MTU settings again... ok all your settings are correct I don't know what's the problem. I have to speak to the Techies... 2 hours later... oh sorry we don't know what's the problem. Please wait till tomorrow and see if the problem gets resolved!

hahaha.. compentence at the best. The problems is that half the time noone, probably not even the people who invented Iburst could tell you what the problem is. Iburst just seems to have some issues every now and again and they arent really fixable. Or they exist outside of the network.

Shaun, I think this "death-cap" should also be near the top of the list as every month quite a few of us get cut off dead by that dumb bandwidth manager.

This month I dragged out my 3gb till around 23:00 lastnight and as I hit the cap my connection went dead as it's been doing for the past 5 months.

hi shaun.

perhaps you can share with us when iburst is going to resolve their lack of bandwidth and curb the degradation that has been occuring over the past few months.

is IBURST going to buy more bandwidth?

Would love to know that too, i know many people have been experiencing a degrading service lately.. but mine has really been shocking since i got Iburst a few months ago. My speed almost never hits 100kb anymore unless its about 3am, even then its not nearly as good as it was.

Still bearable though, but its making me think about moving away from Iburst if a better alternative comes this way. I think many people would be enticed unless Iburst starts maing more improvements, like 2mb/s speeds maby?

And Shaun, Iburst said that they would be rolling out new base station drastically, about two every week. This sounded great but now, after about four weeks they have rolled out 4 or 5 basestations, and three of those came the day of the announcement. Not really sticking to their promises.

actually I haven't seen iburst Officially mention that they are rolling out at least 2 Base Stations a week... all these has been speculations/news reports.

Anyhow it seems that the Hyde Park tower took a nose dive last night as my signal strength fell to 1 bar. The modem was in a position which was the "sweet spot" I tried moving it around I still had a terrible signal :(

So have most people experienced dramatic slow down in speed. At some point I was experiencing just under 300kbps when 800kbps+ had seemed to be my norm.
