iPhone 14 discussions

I’ve seen a lot of people asking for a brightness slider for AOD, so I’m hoping Apple will listen. Would also be nice if they allow you to control it via Focus modes.

For now I’m keeping mine on though :p

I'm waiting to see reports of screen burn in over time with the 14's AOD.

Apple doesn't do pixel shifting like Samsung and the likes do to mittigate screen burn in. Apple uses software to mask the effects of screen burn-in by artificially dimming pixels with less wear.

This becomes apparent when you do a screen replacement, and you can see the software overlaying a ghost image to hide the burn-in.

Personally, I'm going to leave AOD off on my iPhone 14.

Apple can’t be dumb enough to walk right into such a predictable disaster. It took years for Always On to finally appear - they must be confident it won’t s**t the bed.

In any case, with such good trade-in values I’ll be upgrading every year. As long as each model can survive 12 months I should be okay.

I was in Dubai last week, unfortunately I couldn’t find stock at airport….

Can’t believe how expensive it is here…. Almost around $700 AUD difference for the 14 pro 1TB…. Insane…

Will wait for a trip overseas….

14 pro max versus 13 pro max … can you tell which is which and which is better?

You won't see a massive difference between these two using standard photo mode (especially when uploaded and compressed), in RAW mode the difference will be more substantial.

For those that actually want to shoot in RAW, I found this nice shortcut that adds a RAW->HEIF conversion option to the share sheet: https://www.icloud.com/shortcuts/20c59e1b2e1842379f467c29626f602b

Anyone finding that your phone slows down when you delete a large amount of photos? Mine lags like crazy for a few minutes and then seems to come right. Even some builtin apps take around 15-20 seconds to open :crying:

Burn-in is directly linked to brightness.

Since Always-on is very low brightness it shouldn’t be a problem.

Do you seriously think Apple would bring an always-on display to iPhone and not have thought about burn-in? The cost of replacing basically every 14 Pro/Pro Max model sold (at least in regions with strong consumer protection) after a few years due to appalling burn-in is not something they'd be keen for. Not to mention the reputational damage it would cause. And as Sauron said above, burn-in isn't likely if only because of the lack of brightness.

Long before burn-in could become an issue, 14 Pro owners will already trade-in their devices on the 15 Pro, frantically pre-ordering and hunting for the right color/capacity combinations etc.

Will you post here how you got the telkom esim to transfer? I have a telkom esim in my 12 which I'd obviously like to transfer to the 14Pro.
You did not by any chance keep the blue e sim card with the QR code on it? I took a picture of it and uploaded it to Google Drive incase I upgrade or my cellphone gets stolen.
