iPhone 5 weak wifi issue

After months if procrastination and endless frustration, I finally had my iPhone5 replaced by CellC. Gone are my wifi and battery life issues. If anyone else out there is having this issue, just get your handset replaced ASAP. It's definitely a hardware issue.

I'm already on my second one from cell C, with the same weak Wifi issue. Apple in USA are now in contact and working on it...

Just to inform everyone - changing encryption of the WiFi network from WEP to WPA or other way around is NOT SUPPOSED to be the problem fixing way...

Once you have the working iPhone 5 - it works on any network encryption just fine...

This sucks....

I have the same issue.
Weak wifi signal and disconnects on standby.
My iphone 4s on ios 6.1.3 has no issues what so ever

Iphone 5 sucks big time.

Never going to buy this piece of junk anymore.

May I ask how long did that take i.e. the replacement through cell c?

Replace it while it's still under guarantee ;)

Hi guys. Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm also having issues with my iPhone 5 and weak WiFi. It's still under guarantee with MTN. Only had it since July. Is the best option to take it back to them, or has any other solution been found for this problem ? Signal drops to 1 bar when I'm in my lounge, which is about 5 meters away from the room the router is in and is only separated by 1 wall. No signal at all in my bedroom, which is 20 meters away and separated by 2 walls. I did try the switch from WPA2 to WEP and it did nothing to resolve the issue.

***Edit*** Sorry, I should have stated, I'm on iOS 7.1.2

Take it back under guarantee and have some links to the same issue on Apple forums. I went through hoops with Apple in USA and they said in the end that it should be replaced, but they couldn't do it from there. So I was back to square 1 with Cell C saying book it in and they will assess it! Crazy...good luck!

Thanks. I'll print out all the reports and take it with back to MTN.
