Hi guys

Do not expect official details until Friday morning early. Vodacom has an agreement with Apple which means that they may not release anything until then.

And we have a winner!!! **DING DING DING**

these retards wont reveal anything today since the launch is on friday and the launch party thursday, also if they quote the astronomical price they want for it today NOONE will show up on thursday!!!

I was too, till I saw the Samsung Omnia, so I will rather wait for that since Im quiet accustomed to waiting already:)

Don't get me wrong, the Omnia is a great phone - technically even "better" features than the iPhone. BUT, don't think the user interface is as simple, beautiful or as smooth as the iPhone's. All personal preference - I'll go iPhone though :D

You mean Thursday night, midnight, right? If I'm not mistaken, Vodacom is opening the doors at midnight to the public so they/we can get our hands on a shiny new iPhone :)

Oh my word. Vodacom is run by monkeys?
Sheehs, this is laughable...
So, you standing in line.. sign the forms, get the phone, and then they tell you how much its gonna cost you?

Time for a role play.

VODACOM: Sign here here.
(You sign)
VODACOM: Here is your iPhone sir, the 8GB model like you wanted.
YOU: Man, that thing is so cool.
YOU: So its mine, i own it?
VODACOM: Yes sir. All yours..
YOU: (Getting up and walking away) Finally... Oh, btw how much does it cost?
VODACOM: R10 million a month, sir.
YOU: Flip.
VODACOM: But you have already signed, so if you cannot pay it, we will seize your house, car, and all worldly possessions. Should you still fail to comply with your 36 month contract, you and your entire family will be sold into slavery. It's right there in the contract.

lmfao:D:D:D:D

come now - he's always been extremely helpful. I feel that was in bad taste

As both rpm and myself have posted on myBroadband on a number of occasions over the last few weeks, all info relating to pricing, dates, etc. are controlled by Apple and as such Vodacom cannot make any statements until the launch date (which was set by Apple).

So I guess the only 'morons' on this forum are the ones who cannot read and ended up showcasing their immaturity with silly statements, swearwords and general lack of comprehension.

So the article in the times today was what? a figment of my imagination? Someone in Vodacom must have told the reporter that information, and if they had not Vodacom should have released a statement saying as much. The article was not from some local pamphlet, it is a national news site. So there is no excuse for Vodacom remaining mum. Even under a non-disclosure agreement Vodacom can still say that comments are false or misinformed.

The article in the times was exactly that ... an article in the times by some second rate thing trying to be a reporter. Come on, the "i-app" and no music on the iPhone, what did you expect?

ja relax guys - they just trying to build hype, it's normal.

give vodacom a break, they will get your money soon....

Not to pick a fight or anything but various countries released pricing information before the phone was actually available. Rogers in Canada and I think O2 are among these

like some previous guys have said, you will find out after you have signed the document.

Now sign the document!

I did not read the article in case, but I suspect it's not the first (or last) time we'll see speculation in the press. ;)

I know the press ALWAYS only state facts, only quote official sources and never stoop to speculation, but whatever was said, if it did not come directly from Vodacom, was probably a figment of someones imagination. Like everything else published about Vodacom and the iPhone over the last two months.

But I'm glad to see you believe everything you read in the newspapers.

/added/

Just read the article in question:

Vodacom, South Africa’s exclusive distributor of the 3G phone, is expected to announce pricing packages for the gadget at a media launch today.

Not sure how you can consider this an official Vodacom / Apple statement?

I quite like this bit:

Customers who have been on a waiting list since last year received letters from Vodacom saying that the iPhone would be available by Friday.

3G iPhone waiting list since LAST year?

We all better get onto the waiting list for the 4G iPhone (the one with the Virtual eyeWare interface), due for release in 2012. I believe the waiting list is open and filling up fast. ;)
