iPhone not a smartphone ?

They should add owning an iphone on the '100 things to do before you die' list.

You'll keep on thinking that you missed something big if you have never owned one.

I've decided I'm gonna get one.

The iPhone was never made to compete with the Nokia or any other cellphone maker it's marketed and built for a niche market i.e people who want a portable entertainment device with phone, SMS, email, camera(albeit crap) and web browser functionality... and now recently games(like spore FFS!!!). :rolleyes:

I dont even think the camera in my phone is even 2mp and for what I use it for its ample. I wouldnt even begin to consider taking actual photographs with it - or any cellphone - for that matter.

WHAT MORE COULD YOU WANT? if you wanna trade all these things for a copy/paste function, go ahead...buy another nokia!

EDIT: and fullscreen games, and controlling by a Motion Sensor like a PS3!

Whoever complains about a mobile phone's camera is a jackass.

Bwana, you are right. Camera's are for taking photos. Mobile phones are for recording relative likenesses to a situation that happened for looking back and recalling the moment. Not taking photos :p

Any F*** time. I have the iTouch, here u go give me a nokia n-series please anyday. I bought this for the multimedia functions its GREAT!!! but i cant copy/paste urls & rss links. So please take it off my hands

Question: Can you download an app for your "whateverphone" which will brigde a gap you might have identified? Does your model phone have the amount of programming resources behind it which launches hundreds of new apps each week to satisfy some need out there. And then again does your OS allow you to tinker and tweek it to your needs?

My point is: The iPhone will evolve into the phone that can do everything for everyone without giving you such a lot of grap out of the box which you might not need. If you need it...go download it...only takes a few seconds! And I still don't need copy and paste! (why would anyone want to type in a lengthy RSS feed...just click on the damn thing or e-mail it to your iPhone or make up the news yourself!)

Is that what you do? :mad: Email yourself links? What if you want to copy a telephone number from a website to a notepad or email adress? Do you use your Desktop/laptop/symbian/WMphone to email your iphone those links?

:D No but i have this issue right now! I have my iTouch here on a website via Wifi. I just switched on my WMphone now to email myself links and i thought to myself you must be joking u son of a ****.

Geez my blood-pressure!
 
The thread is asking if it's a smartphone and copy and paste is just one of those features smartphone users expect. I'm a writer and being able to manipulate large and small amounts of data is key for me. If the iphone is a smartphone it exists on the stupid side (as a music-phone I'm sure it's fine).
