why should apple be allowed to charge such high rates?

I just hate it when the fanboi-s constantly say that you dont NEED copy/paste on the iphone!

I god damm need it every second! Ever tried typing in a long URL? Ever tried typing in a link to an RSS feed?

U R f### insane if you dont need copy/paste and just for that i hate the iPhone! Fu## Apple they know good and well that ppl need this function but they ignore everyone! Because somehow it cannot be done according to some on this phone, which according to fanboi-s is ahead of its time. More like ahead of my as$!!

R&D for one and Apple hire the most expensive designers to help develop their products.

I agree there are basic features that should be standard but are not... like tethering!

As an iPhone user since March of this year I think this warrants a response.

Firstly..if you have not worked with one, you would not know what it is like (almost like having children!).

[*]No copy/paste functionality
You do not need this. I also made a whole song and dance about this but the intuitive features of the iPhone makes copy-and-paste obsolete

[*]No landscape QWERTY keyboard except in the web browser
and? How think are your fingers?

[*]No vibration feedback when typing (real buttons have that built in)
so what? and the keyboard does not have "real buttons" duh?!

[*]Still no option for turning Predictive typing OFF
BS, you can! Use Kb2

[*]No multi tasking (background notification service is in the works to remedy that one)
not sure what you want to do here or what you mean by your definition of "multi-tasking"..it can surely do whatever whenever.

[*]Numerous messaging features lacking: no MMS (WTF?), no SMS forwarding (might be solved by a system-wide copy/paste functionality), no deleting individual messages (OMG WTF?!)
BS, once again you can do all of the above except the copy and paste and you do not need this.
MMS - SwirlyMMS (brilliant little program)
SMS forwarding via WeTool
Deleting individual messages is part of the SMS feature! and you can do this with weTool

[*]Numerous email features lacking: no bulk "mark as read", no search, no sorting of any kind, no ZIP or RAR support in mail, can't send full resolution camera images via mail (they get resized to 800x600) (L4m3!)
You thrive on BS (you should do better home work next time you know). There are a number of little programs which allows you to do all of the above! SendFile, iComic, SendPics, SendSong,

[*]No call duration recorded in the Calls Log
WeTool can do this

[*]Cannot snooze appointments and cannot set repetitive alerts for reminders
CRAP man! I do this all the time...what is the little "+" for in the top right corner?

[*]No search in the iPod music library (usefull actually cause iPod sucks)
You are very ignorant...I'm not even commenting on this one!

[*]No video recording (OMG WTF BBQ?!?)
Use VideoRecorder for this!!

[*]No voice dialing ('00 model nokia 3310 had that)
Use VoiceDial for this!

[*]No Bluetooth file transfer or stereo Bluetooth music streaming (w34k!)
Hmmm I must agree the Bluetooth sucks!

[*]No GPS navigation software (c'mon, I have Nokia Maps and Garmin!)
Dude do you want a phone or a GPS???!!! Google maps and the new assisted GPS (on the 3G iPhone) works FINE!! It won't talk to you (yet) But someone will sort this out soon.

[*]Long and tedious back up upon sync with iTunes (presumably fixed with the latest 2.01 firmware)
Nope...goes quite quickly

[*]No syncing of Notes and TO-DOs
No Notes Sync...which sucks BUT To-Do sync with iCal (IF you are on a Mac as in Apple Mac)

The Edge on the first gen iPhone works fine for well...Edge. BUT the new 3G obviously kicks butt in this department. It wireless capability is par none I have ever come accross...it switches to the best wireless connection available to you seamlessly.

But once again....if you have never worked with one then your opinion is based on what OTHER people write on the Net.

My prediction, everyone will sooner or later want/have one. My experience is based on the first generation iPhone. The 3G is even better. So soon you all will have to conform...it would be the logical thing to do!

There's a fantastic new iphone application coming out called iPhoneafriendandaskhimtodoitonhisphonethatcandoitwithoutdowloadingaflimsyaddon

A positive thing I should note is that I bought my iPhone last year and with the latest update can do everything the latest 3G iPhone can do except 3G.

No phone I've owned before had such great support!

Standard stupid slow and boring OS.
No - actually they have two operating systems, both more capable than the iPhone. Series40 is lightweight and blindingly fast and even offer - wait for it - MMS! - WoW... amazing. Series60 can even multitask! How on earth can a phone multitask? (I hear Steve Jobs ask Bill Gates) :p

Not good quality, not close to the quality of the iPhone.
Obviously the fakes from China called "Nokla" and so on are not good quality but the real ones are very strong. Every one that has had cellphones for more than 5 years will be able to tell you some story about how far they have dropped Nokias by accident.

Very poor design. They all look the same now.
OK - compare http://www.gsmarena.com/nokia-phones-1.php to http://www.gsmarena.com/apple-phones-48.php and tell me who's line up contains the most similar phones (ouch - that one is a low blow - but I had to ;) )

Nokia have no WM phones.
Some say it is the best operating system ever, and that if the Stig had a mobile phone it would run on it. All we know it's call Symbian

They dont have any touch screen phones.
Nokia uses a technology that's even more advanced than the iPhone's tap screen, allowing you to actually feel the keys you press as you're pressing them! The technology is called "tactile response," and it allows you to do things like dial a phone number without staring at your screen like a (see original article for the word : http://www.thebestpageintheuniverse.net/c.cgi?u=iphone). In fact, every other cellphone ever made has this technology, sometimes called "buttons."

Their idea of a PDA means the phone should be huge!
If you compare volume (in CC) to features then you can clearly see why they are so fat. Oh I lovely my chubby ass N82. Still, I won't call it the best phone ever. But it is damn goob (and big I admit).

They not exclusive.
Well some of them are overpriced at first - but I agree with you, they are not over the top overpriced all the time.

Call quality is poor try Vodacom perhaps ?
battery life on high res screens are poor. still beats that fruit phone :)

The iPhone is fresh new and different, its also backed by a powerful media company. People have used Nokias for to long, and that stupid line of user friendliness is old and gone, we not stupid, we can learn new things.;)
Yes - learn new things and RTFA - you will quickly "learn" how much features you will not find in this fresh new fruit from a powerful fruit company. :o

You do realize that going on and on about something that isn't true just makes you look like an idiot (in this case, a bigger idiot)?

Geez - no offence - but it does not seem to do a lot out of the box then does it ?

Apple 0 - The Rest 1 (pronounced "won")

My current phone. Nokia 6233, been dropped many-a-time. Goodness, it looks perfect still, runs perfect. 10 out of 10 Nokia :D

This argument is ridiculous... the iPhone is meant to be the best portable music player not the greatest phone.

I'll have to start a new thread then, cause as far as music players go there are a lot that is superb and not locked down like a white fruit.

For starters the N82 - sound quality far beyond that of a fruit and if you like a track and want to play it to a friend, just bluetooth it instead of having them putting your earphones into their grimy ears.

...then again chances are they have a fruit product that does not understand these teeth that are blue. Oh well, good thing the N82 has a standard 3.5mm stereo jack. :D

Yes it is the whole Mac and PC thing all over again... First they copy Xerox and now they copy Nokia - but - just as copy and paste is missing from the iPhone - so is copy and paste (successfully) missing from the fruit company.

The women who've seen my fruit have all wanted to touch it and play with it.
Your N82?
