It wasn't me: Vodacom on Cell C network problems

"It Wasn't Me"

(Yo', man) Yo'
(Open up, man) What do you want, man?
(CellC just caught me) You let them catch you?
(I don't know how I let this happen) With who?
(I screwed up thier network, you know) Man
(I don't know what to do) Say it wasn't you
(Alright)

It find vodacom and connects and you get GPRS or Edge if you lucky.

My personal experience has been that I always get EDGE when I used to roam on Vodacom with my RAZR. Dont think I have ever even gotten to see the "G" sign on my phone. This was also the case when traveling on the N7 towards Vredendal ... and tested it there also on roaming and also always got EDGE. This is a small little town on the West Coast. Just my personal experience.

How can Vodacom be blamed if Cell C 3G RSSI = -69dBm but no data connect? The modem will only try to roam if no Cell C signal.

Agreement was signed ... but not activated by Cell C if I remember correctly ... so they have the option ... but not using it.

Then what are they complaining about ... activate the 3G agreement and then see how things go!!!

Well ... I am guessing that carrying their traffic over someone elses network is more expensive ... so I suppose they are trying not to use that option.

That may be true, but then if that's the case ... don't advertise and create the expectation that you will be doing it.

Although, I see this in that article:
None of the networks wanted to confirm the discussions, and neither Cell C nor Vodacom was willing to confirm whether their new agreement included 3G.

Perhaps MyBroadband should be more careful before releasing articles that tell us something, but which may not be the case!!
