Kindle Paperwhite

It would have been enough for me and usually the 30 days are enough to get several products over a few weeks and consolidate them. Preorder items are something else.

Yeah in this case the Kindle would only arrive on March 17th.

Well I pulled the trigger on the Signature.

Put in a separate order for the cover and a nice new cover for my old unit that I’ll pass on to my daughter to make up for the extra shipping.

Enjoy:thumbsup: Did the discounted price still apply ?

Yeah still the same today.

Would have been nice to have the bundle with the wireless charger, but at the same time it’s a thing you charge once a month so seems silly.

Likely will work on my phone charger pad anyway.

Yowzer those covers became very expensive very quickly with the customs almost as much as the original $50odd value and MyUS not choosing the cheapest shipping as instructed.

At least didn’t cost more than ordering directory from someone like Takealot or a drop chipper, but still not great.

Have queried it but really don’t expect much.

Pondering if I should turn off paying customs up front for the Kindle itself.

******

Aah damn I see if you select the option to pay customs up front then they warn you that you won’t get the cheapest shipping method.

School fees.

Kindle performance for me is disappointing. It freezes on some books. Had to delete and redownload and restart the machine. That's the Oasis so about 10% slower than the newest Paperwhite but I doubt these have more RAM.

I've got a really old one. Never freezes. Might it be the files you're using?

You mean files which are Kindle compatible and I purchased on the Amazon Kindle store and downloaded to the Amazon manufactured device?

You love Kindle so much? You're also an Apple fanboi too?

You do know these files are DRM protected so I can only view them on the Kindle or the Kindle PC reader. But viewing them on an LCD screen defeats the purpose of an E-ink display.

I'm trying to follow your logic. But I am struggling to parse it.

No, are you OK?

Now that I told you that I purchased files on Amazon kindle store and downloaded them to the Kindle and the Kindle has problems with them, are you going to victim blame?

So I am using this device as Amazon wants me to use it. Giving US dollars to Amazon. Is there something else I should do? Should I blame myself? Maybe I am holding it wrong.

Try to think through your advice before giving it. Please.

Hope you feel better man, have a good night.

Thanks for your advice. Good advice it was. Maybe there is something wrong with Amazon Kindle store files which Amazon downloads to my new Kindle Oasis.

Yes. Maybe there is something wrong with Amazon.

Just cos you got a lemon built by a dronkie on a Friday afternoon don't take it out on the rest of us - I've had 4 kindles over the last 20 years and never had an issue.

Log an RMA and return that sucker. Amazon don't hassle on returns.

Go onto the Amazon site and speak to them - they will sort you out - their customer service is legendary (even though they treat their staff like ****)

Oh shame. What am I taking out on "you"?

He offered useless advice. I responded. Thanks but no thanks.

Do you want a cookie.

I can't log an "RMA" because the item was imported by MyUS.

I'll have to spend a fortune shipping it back.

It's not totally useless it just doesn't work as well as it should.

Thank you for your words of wisdom.

No what gets me is that people assume a poster is totally clueless and just because they have no problems, the poster is doing something wrong. I just don't like that sort of disregard. Besides I didn't ask for any advice.

Yes I know Amazon support is good, I've been using Amazon for 22 years. But this is an imported item and Amazon thinks the item was shipped to Florida, so I'd have to ship this back to Amazon on my own. They won't reimburse me. I'll have to pay Tax and custums duties again on the item when they ship it back to Florida and so on and I'm not guaranteed that it will work as I think the issue is Kindle file size. The product doesn't work properly with larger Kindle files. All purchased on Amazon.

Thanks for your help and thank you for being a white knight.

Contact support, tell them you bought it while in the States but now you're in SA, ask what your options are. Be nice.

Btw, we try to share info and help each other out in this thread - don't be an
a s s h o l e.

Nowhere in your original complaint post did you indicate that the books you bought were all from the Kindle store.

You're offering unsolicited support.

You're defening your buddy who was insinuating I'm at fault.

I don't like that.

What do you mean be nice? What is that supposed to mean? Did I call you an a s s h o l e?

I think we can stop communicating now.

You're posting on a public thread therefore implying that you'd appreciate some help.

Be nice to the Amazon helpdesk agent - you'd be amazed at how helpful they can be.

If you don't want people to interact with you don't post in the thread.

My 'buddy' was not insinuating anything - you interpreted it that way and then went a little bit berserk for no reason.

PS: many people use Calibre to sideload books so the advice/query was perfectly reasonable - your reaction wasn't.
