Cool, good to know that.

I'm still surprised though that Samsung would actually MAKE a set that doesn't have any HD capabilities at 43 inches.
And it's advertised on the front page of the Game advertisement this week for R4499... Can't believe anyone would spend that amount of cash and not at least get 720P

Well it would be good for SD TV, DVDs, and .avi etc. ;)
 
Good day all.

After my last happy purchase of a low end Sinotec Plasma TV two years ago I'm back in the market courtesy of certain folks deciding to relieve me of my 50inch TV and just walking out of my flat with it while no one was home. And nobody noticed that strange either. Courtesy of the insurance I can now restate my needs, and humbly request the knowledgeable, non knowledgeable and trolls to 1. advise and 2. comment.

My needs:
TV, of about R8k to R9k wouldn't want to go too close to ten because I want to get DSTV HD installed too into a budget of R10-R11k.
46+ Large since there is the ideal spot for it and it replaces a 50inch
Room is about 7x4.5m and viewing distance is 3-6m but mostly 6m.
Quite a few windows but not opposite the tv, but most of my viewing is at night anyway

In order of preference Full HD, 2d to 3D (ideally passive) and some way behind Smart TV capability. I'll have an XBoxand HP Microserver anyway so I'm not convinced about the need for that from the TV.

My viewing will be DSTV SD RG6 RF Cable and via a and DSTV HD hopefully soon and of course XBox and XBMC from the Microserver. I don't really watch BluRay but hey, maybe because I didn't have a 3D tv?

I want to put int a mid range R4k AV Receiver into the mix sometime in there too. Will it help/ hurt/ or are options in that range a don't matter item.

All advise will be welcome but I'll take from it what I want.

I got a PS51E550 for R7900 2 weeks ago from game at Dion wired's price, price is still up on their site so if you show the game salesman that web page it's yours for R7900.

Its a 51" HD 3D plasma smart TV.

It's pretty amazing hey... PQ is great, 3D is great... the smart TV side is really klunky and sluggish though but thats not really why I bought it. Most reviews I've seen give it a perfect score.
