The specs say its 50hz motion plus and I'm told I should get a tv that's 100hz. But is this applicable for my use? I don't really watch sports and the tv will probably be connected to my computer most of the time for web browsing, movies, etc

I currently have a CRT, so it will probably be a huge improvement either way. I just know that I wont buy another tv for a loooong time, so I wanted to get some advice from the forum :)

Don't worry about 50Hz (50FPS).

Will be a huge upgrade in terms of size but CRT is still the king of picture quality. ;)

I am also looking at that Samsung 46D550.

Do you guys know which video formats it can play over USB? MKV and other HD file types?

Thanks Mike. Great to hear from people actually owning the set. I think the 50hz "problems" mentioned on the forum might not apply to a "non-expert" like myself. I am very keen on this set.

It was more worrisome a few years back. Once connected to an HD feed, 50Hz LCD is quite good at handling motion. It suffers more with SD.

Oh, it's also worrisome if you buy a cheapie TV, many of them still have motion issues.

I see that with the Samsung U40D503 you can change the model number in the service menu to enable USB movie playback.

Has anyone here tried it?

Risky, that assumes the 03 models has the same processor as the 00 models i.e. they're 'artificially' crippled.
