Howzit chaps - Im in the market for a decent high definition tv. The age old debate whether i should go for lcd/led plasma still puts doubts in my mind.
Im going to be using the television mostly for xbox 360, running some movies and series off my media player which are mostly 720p/1080p except for the series. I dont have a dstv pvr, we have top tv and my wife mostly watches series on that. I couldnt be bothered about television at this stage, but MIGHT consider a hd pvr in the near future.
From what research ive done, plasma is better for sd television, its cheaper and has absolutely no motion blur, better viewing angles. What does bother me is the reflections on the screen as the living room in my flat is very bright and have huge windows. (This can be sorted with some tint and dark curtains btw.)
Lcd/Led- no reflections, does not suffer from burn in, thinner, consumes less power, various size options, easier to wall mount.
Whats bothers me about plasma is the reflection thing, i dont like ambient light degrading the picture quality, and we mostly watch television with the light on, We also have supper in the front of the television. Im not keen on switching the lights on and off all the time to watch something.
What bothers me about lcd/led is the motion blur thing, as i cant afford a television thats 100hz and above which are normally pricey and higher end models.
My question is the plasma reflection thing a big issue or am i exaggerating?
Does motion blur affect things either than tv, can it have an impact on movies/series - xbox gaming?
Which one would be better suited for my needs? LCD/LED or plasma.
Also the couch is about 2m away from the sofa. What would be the ideal size? If i wall mount it i could get around half a meter more.
Thanks in advance and apologies for my long story.
