LCD and Plasma Bargains

Hi Postman, with all do respect man but i think you have got all the stuff mixed up. All the time i'm talking about plasmas suddenly out of nowhere you are sending me to the shops to look for a LCD!?! I don't want LCD mate, but even more i don't want to buy a crap TV that i'm planning to watch for the next 4-5 years and as i said from what i red till now does not look too good. I did look in the shops, two BTW which had Sammy and Pana next to each other (oversees) and i'm fully aware of the PQ on both! You asked me for a link where very reputable guy was doing proper semi-professional test on new D line plasmas and clearly you can see that the black levels on the top notch Sammy plasma sucks between 0.165 up to 0,225. Still waiting for a link to proof that this guy measurements were wrong. Any way probably will get the Sammy on Saturday and if not happy will return the thing and go Pana from states. Was curious to see if the price was right.

And I know for sure the PS50D550 will cream the LA46C550.
What do you 'know', it purely your opinion. Not hard to find someone else's opinion that contradicts yours.

Going back to budget LCD vs Plasma, here's someones opinion of the 5 series LCD & the 4 series Plasma (North America models) ...

LN46C530 - Not perfect, but competent in its class

PN42C450 - Nothing short of calling it cr@p (especially when trying to show HD e.g. 1080i)

Eh? You've got it wrong. I am very much pro plasma. I said go and compare it to entry level LCD, because the plasma will murder it at PQ and blacks levels, meaning you won't have to worry so much. In other words, you won't find better value for your money.

Lol, televisioninfo.com are a bunch of LCD fanbois with contradicting articles and incorrect information. They've already been called out for it. Search AVS if you like.

I know it because Series 4 plasma creams Series 5 LCD. Unless you're a pixel freak who sits <1.5m from their TV to get the full HD experience. I know it because the 30+ forumites who have bought Series 4 plasma compared it to Series 5 LCD.

I know it because people on this very forum compared the PS50C550 to the LA46C530/C550. I'll let you guess which was better. :p

I wish the plasma owners who upgraded from crappy entry level 50Hz LCDs would speak out. It would shut you up. :D

Blah, blah, blah ... still only your opinion, which is no more credible that anything else one can find on the Net. And based on your propensity to blatanly lie on this forum, I cant see how anyone can take what you say seriously.

Hi Postman, i know that you are pro plasma :) so am I. I'm comparing plasma with plasma all the time man. What that got to do with LCD at all? Except the value i want to enjoy my TV, not to swear every single time when i look at the bloody thing and not to curse on my self that i've saved 5-6k. Will get it on saturday and see how it goes.

My opinion? Lol.

The experts say plasma is better at the lower end?

30+ forumites I've spoken to myself have compared these exact models - PS42C430 and LA40C530 - and chose plasma based on PQ?

Info that i could not find yet regarding this TV and if some one from the current owners willing to help will be great. Question is: does the 51D550 saves the contrast/light/color info for each input?

No idea. Go compare to a R10,500 ±50" LCD... Then we talk.

*edit*

Would be between a LA46C550 (±R10,000) and LA46C650 (±R12,000).

Already, both are smaller. And I know for sure the PS50D550 will cream the LA46C550.

LA46D550 (newer and better than C550) goes for R8500

How much better? It's still a 50Hz entry level LCD. I would take the PS51D450 over it any day - 4" bigger for less and better for most content. Then again I'm not a pixel phreak, and I sit further than 2m. :D

Just pointing out the fact that the newer and better D550 is R2000 less than the old C550 for people to read and make up their minds.

I could not care less about your obsession with plasmas

It's a good price. How much better though? You tell me.

It's an obsession with value for money. It just so happens that that's where plasma is king.

Did you go out and see one yet? OR are the thoughts of more pollution when being disposed preventing you? :D

Yes, it does. You can customise all the picture modes.

LG32LE5500 LED FHD - R3999
Just putting this one out there.
My buddy just bought this TV from Game.

Good price. Think it might have 100Hz? Heard it's not great for a PC LCD.

I would also like to point out pricing on the Samsung 40" and 46" 5 Series LCDs.
