Samsung ps50c430 vs lg 50pj250, which is better in terms of pic quality?
Seen the Sammy, is very good, havent seen the lg, and where can i get the best price?
Thanks

In (extremely) short.

Plasma is awesome. Just not for static images. ie, PC. Some will debate on black levels, etc, and yes there are brilliant LCD's out there, but equally brilliant Plasma's. I have both, but love my Plasma more and more.

Same setup with me and I like my plasma more as well.

Its as simple as this:

1. HD feed > You wont see much difference between a similarly spec'd plasma and LCD
2. SD feed > The plasma will be more forgiving on this. LCD's are sharper and the crappy input will be more visible on LCD
3. PC feed > As in windows, LCD better

So it really depends on what you plan to use it for. In general for home entertainment, HD and SD, movies/series Plasma is the better option for best visuals.

My $0.02 worth

Don't ever choose an LG product over it's Samsung equivalent. The LG is probably more expensive anyway.

so Makro has their latest specialis out, and I was looking at this Sinotech:
Sinotec 40" (102cm) Full HD LCD TV -
Model: STLCD-40KC70
Contrast ratio: 4 000: 1
Resolution: 1920 x 1080
HDMI x 3

Going for R5999
Anyone got feedback?

Just make sure it doesnt have the "Dynamic Contrast" feature cuz u will be back demanding a refund

I always thought LCD's were far superior to Plasma's, interesting reads that blow that out the water. It seems plasmas are better priced.

Are they decent for gaming? PS3 and Xbox?

I game on my plasma, Batman Arkum at the moment - Totally awesome, GH5 - also brilliant. Just stay away from high bright white logos. Tekken 6 is also flaweless.

What you mean stay away from high bright white logos?

I gamed on my plasma with Brutal legend, and I battled to get rid of the IR. The logo's were very bright. They went away of course, of that i have no worries, but it was the toughest IR i've ever had. So now i stick to coloured static images, or those that are translucent. Any bright or busy static images, i play on my LCD.

I also went to Makro to have a look at this screen. The RF setup they had in the store was terrible, so I asked them to hook up a Bluray and I was very impressed, not bad value for money.

Still need to see how it will look with a decent DSTV setup.

so i stopped by Game, they have a 42" Sinotec going for R5799, and the LG LF20 42" going for R6999.
Wondering if the LG is R1200 better than the Sino...

If you take the Sinotec be prepared to have a dynamic contrast issue where the screen flickers between light and dark on some scenes. They are coming to repair/replace mine today as i have read a lot of complaints about it and they are aware of the issue

50" FULL HD Plasma

Hi Guys,

I am hyper ventilating, cos I am not sure if I just spent R8700 (Discounted from R8999) on a decent plasma or not.

Specs:
FULL HD 50" Plasma
Contrast 15000:1
HDMI x 2
PC Connectivity
USB
Media Player Function
Brand: Hyundai
42mth Warranty

It was between this or a 42" Samsung LCD for R7999
But I just loved the size of the 50", and personally i prefer Plasma of LCD due to the true blacks and softer picture.

I connected it to a std DSTV signal using the AV connectors, but the DSTV picture or signal quality is crap.

I tested a DVD, and it is mesmorisingly clear.

I just hope that this Plasma is a good deal, the guy in the store says that it has a Samsung panel, and whilst I was there, 3 people purchased it in front of me.

I am not too worried about contrast ratios of 200000:1 cos I know that this is marketing hogwash..see here: http://www.practical-home-theater-guide.com/contrast-ratio.html

Has anybody purchased this Hyundai brand, and have any of you had any problems with it?

I purchased this from Deals Direct in Woodmead, Sandton.

Cheers!
