LCD and Plasma Bargains

Guys, the guy at cats told me I must leave all the settings as is for the first 50 hours of viewing.

I know there is a break in process, but wasn't sure what settings to use, he seemed to think the ones out the box.

From what I've gotten on the net
1-Keep contrast, brightness least around 50
2-Don't watch anything with a static logo image (ie movie channels, sport) for 30 minutes at a time
3-Don't watch shows with black bars, rather stretch the screen
4-Enable Pixel shifting

Did some searching and seems with the new generation of plasma the break-in is not needed, though this could be a ploy from plasma manufacturers to stop scaring people away to LCD, I'm not really sure. I just set my contrast and brightness between 50-60, don't really plan on changing after the break in period as the picture settings are fine for me.

Those would be extremely cautious steps, although I mostly agree.

I'd say watch whatever you like, but use the screen saver/scroller every 1 - 2 hours if there are static images/black bars without any breaks. That's how I broke-in my PS42C450. To be honest, I probably forgot about using the scroller every 1.5 hours after about 40 hours viewing... :)

Happy with the TV so far, looks pretty crappy with everything on 50% though :p But it is only for 100hours I guess.

Its got a little bit of a hum, like a high pitched one, not really that noticeable, also depends where you sit as to if you can notice or not.

SD quality is leaps ahead of my LCD. Watched the cricket last night, also amazing quality.

I'd also be a little weary of not breaking in :/

I saw a R50,000.00 3D Panasonic Viera with issues just 2 weeks back

Are any of you guys interested in buying refurbished TV's? They're basically new and stuff, will sell cheaper than instore prices obviously.... Thinking of making a business

What are you talking about.. LCD's/Plasma?

Everything basically, including sound systems, infact, DVD/Blu-Ray/Sound systems I get killer deals, almost 30-40% off prices in Hi-Fi corp. But I only do LG and Samsung products

so how much for a samsung plasma c550?
full manufacterers warranty?

I'll give you guys prices today or tommorow.

Refurbished - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Refurbishment_(electronics)

I bought a DVD Home Theatre system, 46" LCD Samsung, A Blu-Ray player and a 32" LED Samsung, all of them were sealed in box, TV still had factory plastic covering sides.. I have no idea how, but they are considered refurbished by the place I get it from. Read the wiki link, it explains what a refurbished product is. It's good as new, and you pretty much have my guarentee I'll replace if you're not happy with the product.

This is still a new venture, I just decided I might sell some electronic equipments since I can get them so cheap. I can also get laptops and fridges, ANYTHING LG or Samsung basically.

I said I'll give prices later today or tommorow ..
I'll find out about the warranty from the guy, but as I said, I'll replace if you're not happy and that's my guarentee..
By the way are you in Johannesburg?

Also guys, Tv's you wil probably save a grand or two but it seems like there are huge profit margins in the DVD/Blu-Ray/Audio department. Guess that will be my speciality.

Well lookingforward to see the prices you can offer.

What about those of us not in jhb?

Ok, I've got 3 months warranty on all products. Can and will ship to Cape Town/Durban etc.
Will get prices by 10pm or tommorow morning.
