hey pp,

samsung came and check my last ps42c450 and it had a faulty board and hdmi was going on the blink.
So now i just had to pick up my new ps42c450 (they said it was from a different batch) and got it home. picture still great but the buzz is there.

Now your plasma does its buzz change frequency and loudness according to the scene on the tv?

Check your brightness level. Is it on white scenes (mostly white)?

nope watched transformers 2, watching how to train your dragon, watching it with my z5500 on a good volume and i can still hear the buzzing from 2.5 - 3 metres away.

so i am going to return and get a lcd, I know i know, but i am going to get 100hz yes more expensive but without the buzz which 5 sets later is beyond my ability to ignore.

la46c650 ?
la46c630 ?
la40c650 ?

All plasma's buzz.

Wouldn't know, can never hear mine's buzz unless within 30cm and no sound.

LA46C750 ... Cats Digital now selling at a ridiculous R11999 .... and it's 3D

Ok, thanks mostly to this forum I will be broke soon because I have to get a 50" plasma. I want FHD and the C550 looks like the best deal but where is the cheapest place in Cape Town to get one?

Not joking at all. TAken it back and now getting the la40c650 for 7999. Ya I saw that special at cats but haven't got that much cash to burn this time round. Looked at the Sony but they are not nice to look at.

Well you've left me flabbergasted. And I'm sure every other plasma owner will be as well at trying to work out how you hear buzz over Z-5500's at a good volume. :erm:

I don't know what to say. They all must have been from the same bad batch :(

But on to the next thing the la40c650

Correct so I have gone from a 50 to a 42 to a 40. I may go with the la46c630 for 10999 but not sure yet.

So the choice is
La40c650 for r7999
La46c630 for 10999

I've been considering the LA46C630 too... I think maybe the LA46C750 might be a better bet. Stand looks nicer too, if you're using a plasma stand instead of wall mounting. Price is only marginally higher.

Well coming from testing the plasma picture throughly and then testing the 50hz LCD is difference is painful. The 100hz really makes a difference which I am happy with.

Still deciding between the la46c630 and the la40c650. Mmmmm

It's actually a 50/60hz TV depending on the broadcast signal it gets, so it will either be at 50hz which is PAL standard or at 60hz which is NTSC, response times should be the main concern on LCD's as you can get a 50/60hz with 2ms which will have less ghosting then a 100hz 8ms TV, it's marketing gimmick that even the plasma TV guys caught on to. As having too many numbers confuse people so they stuck to the "refresh rate" of the TV instead of the response times, which was silly as technically the response times are a better indicator then the refresh rate, what looks better 0.01ms (plasma) or 2ms to 16ms (LCD)?

I just bought the 55" 200hx LED (edge) 3D TV from DW.
Yoh, it is huge.
But 200hz is fliipin awesome - its like watching real life.
3D is also flippin awesome (i could never see it in the cinema).

I hate the smoothmotion function on LCD TVs. Lol :D Takes away the surreal look. At least you can turn it off I you want to :)
