Mede8er models

I am looking for a media player aswell, and it MUST play almost all the formats out there, so my question is, how would you compare a that to a WD TV Live?
 
Ah - that would be awesome.

I have a TViX and it can't search - but would consider a Mede8ter if it could. Browsing movies is difficult :/
 
Another question for the owners :

How do you sort you music?

I know some people put them in genres - but often there are two different genres (ie animated horror or comedy thriller)

Can you have one movie under TWO genres - like maybe something than lists it under both, but one file?

Again, strictly speaking about the Xtreamer (I don’t have a mede8ter). When you use the xjukebox function, you can browse and search by Name, Genres, Rating, cast and a few others
And Yes, one movie can be tagged as both Horror, thriller, comedy or whatever you want and it will show up when browsing/searching for a movie

But Seriously, why do you want a Mede8ter when you can buy a XtreamerPro that is cheaper, with more functions? (they use the same chipset you know)

and some of my friends have the Mede8ter, and they say it’s a direct copy of the AC Ryan, which is also cheaper than the Mede8ter, and if you won’t use the Network functions you can buy the essential edition which is waaaay cheaper than any of its competitors
 
Nope the AC Ryan and the mede8er might look similar but it's the software that counts, the mede8ers is better then the AC Ryan.

Before i used the xJukebox i used the normal jukebox, what i did here is create 3 folders called Horror, Movies, Animation, and in each folder i created subfolders A-Z and copied each movies in its appropriate folder
I found that to be the easiest

why do you say that?, what can the Mede8ter do that the AC Ryan cant?, as far as i know the hardware is almost identical

Much cleaner, better looking interface. Looks smart. Is the AC Ryan interface in HD yet?

Not to mention the fact that the Mede8er unit looks better, comes with better accessories, as well as an extra year of warranty (2 year).

Well worth it, if you have the extra money to spend.

Of course if there is a limited budget, the cheaper units are great.

I can’t really speak for the AC Ryan as i don’t own one, But i can speak for the XtreamerPro, and in my opinion its better than the Mede8ter, its cheaper, it has bigger storage capacity, regular firmware updates, and allot of community projects, i bet you can’t name one thing about the mede8ter that’s better than the XtreamerPro (not to mention the new iXtreamer -which is also cheaper)
The only thing that I like more about the Mede8ter is the fact that it looks better, but then again, the Xtreamer is made of Aluminium :D
 
Personally, I don't like the Mede8er software... it takes forever to do anything, like get to music, etc.

I'd prefer a media library approach, where you add a source the the library, and then you query the library. I was hoping the video wall was like that, but it isn't, i.e. when you add a folder to the media wall, and tag it as "ACTION", then add another folder and tag it as "ACTION", they appear as one folder called "ACTION" not too.

Sorry, I don't know anything about the Xstreamer - I quoted a post about AC Ryan and Mede8er.

You got version 4 yet? It has a media library. I'm on v5b5.

The hardware on most media players is almost the same, it's how the software is handled on the player itself that matters .As far as I've read the AC Ryan can't play certain formats as well as the mede8er. To XrapidX I have the med300x where the software has actually changed slightly, I can't remember the layout of the Med500x anymore, but the 300 isn't to bad, it's got a media Library for everything, Music tab, Movies, Pictures, setup.

yip - the media library isn't really a media library. Its just a consolidation of sources... you still have to go to the individual source to find the items...

Think of something like Windows Media Player's library... goto Music, and the actual source of the music is transparent, it just shoes the Artist/Album/etc.

Thing with that is movies with 2 genres - which are quite a few.

On my TVIX, I read on the forum about a guy that created an m3u file that pointed to the actual movie file. So similar to your directory, except for the fact that he could create an m3u for all the genres and even HD pointing to the HD movies.

I dunno how he did it though :/
