HI - I am thinking of signing up with MTS. I dont stream but would like to have the lowest latency possible to 37.244.28.102 to play sc2 . I am with Cool Ideas CISP now, but the latency is 157ms. to 167ms It used to be 150ms, but this changed as few days ago and has not dropped to 150 yet.

Can anyone on MTS do a tracert or MTR or pingplotter test to 37.244.28.102 so i can see what the real world latency is from Cape Town. I checked lookingglass and it looks good, but need some confirmation from real people.

Thanks

It looks like MTS has got a looking glass you can use to run traceroutes, pings, etc.

It might be worth messaging @PBCool about the latency situation.

Thanks. I replied to my post on the CISP support forum and they are aware of increased latency to London and will have meetings with their providers to review the connections

Hi Siege943

Thank you for considering MTS. We understand how important low latency is for your gaming experience.

We have run two traceroute tests, one from our Johannesburg router and one from our Cape Town router to the destination (37.244.28.102). Here are the results:

It sure does. I got the same e-mail three days ago. I was worried about a price adjustment after our recent increase but luckily that isn't the case:
Don’t worry, your current pricing and any discounts will stay the same for a whole year from the switch!

There is indeed :)

Prominent South African ISP sells its customer base

Fibre Internet service provider Mind the Speed has sold its customer base to Cool Ideas for an undisclosed sum. The Internet service provider (ISP) notified users over the weekend that their billing would be transferred over from 1 May 2025.

While Cool Ideas is often more expensive than Mind the Speed, the ISP assured customers that their current pricing and any discounts would remain the same for a year from the date of the switch.
