MTN slashes Out-of-Bundle data prices

Unlimited with a 150MB threshold??? There goes one of the big 3 changing the dictionary again...
This announcement is such a joke my cat laughed for me! Oh wait, that's a furball.
It's one of those changes that shouldn't have been screamed out to the public, just done quietly in the background.

Yes, it is definitely a welcome progression. But it is LONG overdue.
Keep the ball rolling. :)

one wonders what the hell WA was thinking when they launched their pricing.. ill laugh myself sick if they come along and claim fame for starting the revolution. because my friends, this is a revolution, one long overdue, heads need to roll and the customer must become number one again.

been loyal MTN subscriber for just under 10 years... about bloody time they cut their charges... remember a R900 bill for "going over my megabytes - boom!"

whos the next lady for a shave? :)

hmm.. good news.. from R1.50 outta bundle to 65c on my data bundle gonna save some money,, :) got 100 meg but recently exceeded that by far,,, alas
actually no one in SA should have their primary internet with 3G, unless u don't have the possibility of a fixed line ...or u don't use more than 2 gig a month...

This new OOB pricing from MTN will certainly make a big different to many HSDPA users. The difference between R1.20 per MB and 19c per MB is significant.

I must say that the last two days have been busy – hourly announcements rather than daily or weekly :)

LoL, RPM.. hopefully you had some sleep at least. Anyhow we are in for a rocky ride. Can't believe it's almost 5 years of my membership has flown by, and so much has happened in the last couple of months ...!!

Hope Vodacom will follow shortly ... was gonna stick around and wait to renew my contract to see if Virgin gets HSDPA by May (Via cell c) ... but if Vodacom drops prices similar to MTN, then virgin can go F themselves :)

Please try to add more gigs to the bundles, because it seems like you still enjoy getting R389 from us for every two gig we purchase. Give us an extra gig on top of that, then i will personally call that revolution.

This goes out to Empty-N and VodkaCom.

Read it properly:

A fair use policy of 150MB will however apply after which a speed rate limit of 128Kbps will be applied for the remainder of the 24 hours.

Basically like what IBurst used to do with the throttling.

How about just scrapping the stupid bundles, and letting subscribers use the internet whenever they feel like it at a decent per mb rate.

The tables in the article make my head hurt.

Simplify IT!

So, if I'm on a anytime package and I connect via my phone, without a bundle, am I still paying R2/Mb ?

thats dam expensive

telkom mobile and wireless g prices are far lower in and out of bundle. Go check and keep it apples 2 apples.I can't imagine what you guys are gonna say in august this year when u see the price war and value instore 4 u. Dont sign contracts data bundle contracts.
