Muslims protect churches

So are Shia muslims responsible?

Based on what I have found on the net I dont think so, they are also persecuted by sunni muslims and have declared sucide bombings Haram.

Why dont sunni muslims declare sucide bombings Haram?

Wahhabisim is also a offshoot of the Sunni Faith and seems to be responsible for the majority of of the violance carried out in the name of Islam, the Main sponser of Wahhabisim seems to be Saudi Arabia.

Fine you stand up against it but why dont all muslims do so, especially if it wants to live up being a religon of peace?

Wahhabisim is an extreme form of Islam and most Sunni do not agree with them they have been responsible for destroying the house of the prophet and other extremities

What is important to note that the Osama bin Ladin is said to be a Wahhabi So then by extension the Taliban is a Wahhabi source

on the subject Sunni declaring sucide bombings Haram

Suicide bombing in any form have also been declared haram and forbidden by Indian ulema.[31] This stand is also supported by Saudi scholars such as Shaykh Muhammad Bin Saalih al-'Uthaymeen who have issued fatwā saying Suicide bombings are haram and those who commit this act are not shaheed (martyrs).

note [31] from wiki page
^ Wajihuddin, Mohammed (2009-10-17). "Muslim clerics denounce Taliban threat". The Times Of India. source

While I cant find a webpage on Wajihuddin Mohammed to show him as a sunni Google'ing him with the word Sunni does come up with a lot of results pertaining to pro sunni websites, and with a title like "Muslim clerics denounce Taliban threat" it could only show that he wants to distance himself from the Taliban. have not read the book tho so its just speculation

who is Shaykh Muhammad Bin Saalih al-'Uthaymeen

Sheikh Abu 'Abd Allah Muhammad ibn Saalih ibn Muhammad ibn al-Uthaymeen at-Tamimi an-Najdi (1925–2001 CE) was one of the most prominent Sunni Islamic scholars of the latter half of the twentieth century.

Sorry of the late reply got to work also :)

Deoband Ulema in India have repeatedly mentioned that the Taliban government in Afghanistan was Un-Islamic. This was most recently reiterated at a convention in Karachi recently.[29] These include the idea of establishing shariah rule with force in the name of Jihad and levying of "jizya" on Sikh citizens of Pakistan, which was termed as nothing more than extortion by armed gangs.[30] The stand was explained by Maulana Abu Hassan Nadvi as below
This can't be called a war in the name of Islam. Even during a legitimate jihad, which is fought not by a rag-tag army of misguided youth but by the state against identified aggressors, Islam has set certain principles like you can't harm the old, sick, women and children. You can't attack any place of worship. But terrorists kill people indiscriminately. They are earning Allah's punishment.

It's about time Muslims condemned their fellow muslims in public, however it doesn't help because some of the violence starts in the mosques.

Yes Wahhabisim is an extremist movement but it is one that is seemingly dominant, Saudi Arabia is seen as the main exporter of this sect.

What we are looking for is the majority of Islam to stand up and in one voice declare that Suicide bombings are Haram, why hasn’t this happened?

There are plenty of attacks on Christians that are perpetrated by Muslims with no connection to Wahhabisim, yet there is no condemnation from Muslims worldwide.

There are also plenty of examples of persecution of religious minorities in predominantly muslim countries yet there is no outcry from the larger Muslim community, why not?

The above actions and lack of action only serve to show the superiority of Christianities beliefs, we don’t fly of the handle at the slightest provocation imagined or not, yet this is often the case among Muslims.

The silence is deafening

That's because the ignorance is so loud in this thread.

I mean, I remember when the question from the anti-muslim community was "Why are Muslims not speaking out against extremists?" Now that there are articals about Muslims speaking out, The goal posts have shifted to "Why have not more Muslims spoken out?" When more Muslims do speak out then, no doubt the goal posts will shift again.

Sunni Islam is the largest branch of Islam,[1][2] and Sunni Muslims are referred to as Ahlus Sunnah wa Al-Jamā‘ah (Arabic: أهل السنة والجماعة‎ "people of the tradition [of Muhammad] and the community") or Ahlus Sunnah (Arabic: أهل السنة‎) for short.

Most Muslims belong to one of two denominations; with 80-90% being Sunni and 10-20% being Shia

So the largest group of muslims are saying this but no one takes notice it seems :(
I suppose not news worthy when Muslims do good. Take this thread in point read the comments in this thread by non Muslim :wtf:.

LOL, ever heard of the Crusades?

Christians are most certainly the last group on Earth who should be claiming the high ground or any moral superiority. WW2 was faught between Christian nations, With one group of religious leaders telling the soldiers "It's Gods Will" while the other group was doing exactly the same thing across the lines. What was the final death count of civillians in the War? Over 49 million is speculated.

Still a valid question though as their action is a drop in the ocean

Ah It seems I wont convince you with numbers and facts, No worries have a fun day.
P.s. If any Muslim treats you unfairly call me, I have no issue running to your aid if you are innocent in that matter

Thank You for your participation but I think this thread can close now :)
Wish you all a peaceful weekend I am out

Not really. It's a question often asked by people who don't want to hear any answers. Who don't care if there are any Muslims that do condemn terrorism because if there were, there reasons to hate wont be as valid as they think it is now. Incidentally, do read some of the links provided by Mineer to the Muslim view of extremism.

You guys have missed the point, I am not debating the fact that there are some muslims who speak out against terrorism.

I am asking the following

What we are looking for is the majority of Islam to stand up and in one voice declare that Suicide bombings are Haram, why hasn’t this happened?

There are plenty of attacks on Christians that are perpetrated by Muslims with no connection to Wahhabisim, yet there is no condemnation from Muslims worldwide.

I consider this a perfectly valid question.

If there is an actual or perceived injustice against Islam, there is a global outcry by Muslims, yet the same can not be said of atrocities committed in the name of Islam, even though you say that these actions are against the teachings of Islam

I have read some of the links and have gone on to some Islamic forums but again it doesn’t show a unified outcry against actions you say are non Islamic

Both the crusades and WW1/2 were fought for political reasons.

The crusades were coated with Christianity in order to give it legitimacy and to encourage people to join in defeating the evil Muslims. If you look at the main tenants of Christianity they were incompatible with the actions of the crusaders. But if you look at this period it was a pretty common way to wage war.

As for WW1/2 this was the norm among the European nations except the soviets (atheists), but religion was not the cause, it was used to bolster the troop’s morale. It always helps if you think god is on your side

As for Moral Superiority, Jesus never encouraged violence or hatred but rather preached peace and forgiveness. I would say that is a morally superior message.

@ronjay.I liked your earlier comment about the shifting of the goalposts. If Muslims condemn one act of violence, the focus shifts to another random act that requires condemnation.
Past incidents are brought up, ad nauseum to re-inforce current issues. You can't win so its best to be silent and let events run its course.

I think you guys are missing the goal posts entirely

So a small bunch of muslims takes a stand that is great news , now what about the majority taking a similar stand or is that to much to ask?

Why do think you cant win?

Crusades blah blah, WWII blah blah

Ok fine, being ignorant of the history of the crusades is one thing - it did happen a long time ago. However, likening WWII to a religious struggle is mind bogglingly stupid. Well done, you just received a belated "Most Retarded Post of the Day Award".

With over 1 billion muslims in the world, people are getting happy over a couple condemnations ?
Oh please, get real.If the muslims really wanted to stop these extremist acts they could.End of story.

Yes!! Like how the world governments have stopped crime or like how all the christians have stopped priests from molesting children.

Point understood?
