I'm trying to figure out whats wrong with my Mweb speed both INT and local are more or less 300Kbps when i should be getting 4mbps.

SpeedTest Local:http://www.speedtest.net/result/818729978.png

SpeedTest International:http://www.speedtest.net/result/818731758.png

So what am i paying R600 for? a 300kbps speed?

can someone tell me what i'm doing wrong or if mweb is ripping/riping me of/off :mad::mad:

There's something really wrong there! :D That's probably a record for the worst 4mbps speedtest!
Make sure they didn't make a mistake and put you on 384 perhaps? Phone Mweb technical support, they are a friendly bunch!

Go onto your router and see at what speed your internet is syncing at. Mine says ADSL: 128 / 384 kbps, so then I know I am syncing at my <sarcasm>full and glorious</sarcasm> 384 that I pay for;-)

In fact, I just did a speedtest on my 384 line:

Dude, you have worse speeds, but close enough to me to make me think you are getting 384.

Look for something on your router called Line Diagnostics or Statistics; or something similar where it shows you the SNR margins and rates that its synchronizing at.

If you can't find it, just post the router brand and model here, then someone could tell you if your router can show the information and where to find it...

For 4Mbps uncapped from Mweb (with line rental being with Telkom), you should be paying the following:
Mweb 4Mbps uncapped (data only): R 539
Telkom Fastest ADSL: R 413
Telkom Closer 1: R 145
---
Total: R 1 097 pm

*R539 to MWEB for your data

R413 to Telkom for your ADSL line rental

R952 Total

What an epic fail if you compare this to the dramatic post heading.
