MWEB Uncapped ADSL - Official Q & A

Priority is a little slow, but nothing major.
When browsing non-standard sites though it does give errors( There's a person in the house who goes to download embriodery designs)

@Mweb - We need to arrive at an amicable solution here. Shape what you want to shape during business hours... but make sure that web surfing, emails and online gaming remain fully intact.. there is nothing worse than trying to click through webpages and having them not load or trying to play games where the latency degrades... especially if I have a 4mb line.

If Mweb is going to shape uncapped 4mb account downloads during the day, lets agree on what is acceptable because <1kb/s is just ridiculous. At the moment it just seems like ddl's are switched off.. not cool... not cool at all...

MWEB, if your already on the R199 all inclusive 1GB deal with Mweb, why do i need to fill in forms again to have my line moved from Telkom to Mweb, doesn't make sense, why does it need to happen again?

Hi Mike43110,

No, the non-priority shaping should not be that extreme, I have our engineers investigating. Will revert as soon as I have something.

PS: Is your priority traffic such as browsing (http/https) and email (pop3/smtp) experiencing the same slowdowns?

MWB.

There was definitely a problem, earlier. Have a look at the subscribers feedback thread. All is back to normal now it seems.

Hi gdiza,

Thats an emphatic no, MWEB does not have any 100GB, 200GB or whatever specified monthly traffic limit.

MWB.

w00t! Well done on making such a bold statement.

Today I added MWEB as another ISP along with telkom , BUT ........ All of a sudden when I try and browse servers in battlefield bad company 2 with the server browser, after i log on, with mweb it just says connection to ea lost . try again, but its ok with telkom ?? whats up with tha .. shaping issue ?

Thanks sandman, but it more my mother, still @ uni, still I have to agree!
And to MWEB, yes, simple pages are very slow, news 24 even is a little slow.
EDIT: and news.mweb.co.za has a speed of 0 at the moment with only one connection per server selected.

That is definitely not right... there must have been a problem or something... like what someone said a few posts above.

I must say that from the weekend performance I like this service, if it gets to anywhere NEAR the levels of performance I had, I will stay with Mweb for a long time, I have already recommended it to most of my friends!

It seems they don't have a download limit because of the restrictions in shaping, which results in a very low speed. So in effect, they don't need to set an actual limit.

MWB.

I beg to differ. My account remains firmly capped at just 3GB.

Why did MWEB not unilaterally increase the cap on existing customers (to say, just 10 GB) before "selling" what loyal customers who pay up front cannot get?

Don't tell me to phone sales - I did. Several times.
Don't tell me to phone customer services - I did. Several times.
Don't tell me to pm MWEB - I did. Several times.

My account is in credit until Feb 2011, so now I do not matter!
