Hi MWEB Guy, daily dispatch today is running a promo for 5 days uncapped ADSL for free in east london and port elizabeth only. First 500 applicants only. Nothing on your website. How do I go about getting a piece of the action here, thx

Yeah, I am also experiencing very high latency. My net is so slow today, dunno wats going on.

Is anyone else having connections to other SMTP servers being redirected to Mweb's SMTP server "redirect03.smp.mweb.co.za"?

Also having the same thing, all my outgoing mail accounts use the SMTP of my mail server. And for the last week it was complaining the entire time that the username/password was not correct when sending out mail. I though something funny was going on with the mail server so I changed all the outgoing/SMTP settings to mweb.

So even if I insert another smtp server into my mail accounts, mweb is automatically redirecting it to their smtp server ?

MWEB keeps dropping connection

Hey people

I'm in the Durban area KZN, the whole day my 4MB Home DSL account has been dropping connection, anyone else experiencing this today?
anyone know what the prob is?

Hmmm, ok thats weird, seems fine now. Pings are back to normal and browsing fine. Will keep monitoring and see if it persists

Mweb think there is no problem on their side but I have 2 adsl lines going to 2 different exchange points and both of them was giving me high latency. I would like to have resolution details ASAP as this is unacceptable for a Business user

I have been having trouble with p2p since last week. Nothing has downloaded for the last couple of days. I thought it was the cable out again but you say there are no issues with the network. My normal browsing is also slightly slower than normal.

I am on a 4 Mbit uncapped line and was wondering if the following p2p speeds I am experiencing are about normal or slow:

Torrents and News Server:
peak: 40-50kb/s
after 8: 70-80kb/s
after 11: 250-300kb/s

What I find strange is that the mweb news server is running at the same speed as astraweb (ie 40-50 during the day). Is this normal?

mweb news server run full speed, on cached content only

Last week I was getting full speed on news server throughout day on cached content, this week getting <4.5 KB/s in day even on cached content and only full speed for short period overnight. Did something change?

how do you its cached? :p

newshost and nzbsa don't show if its cached for mweb.

Well its cached on IS and SAIX so I assumed its cached since my line is through Telkom :) But the point is i used to get full speed, now all of a sudden its dropped.. perhaps the "fair usage policy" has kicked in.. in which case, oops. I will wait till next month and see if it reverts back to normal.
