12kb/s to news.mweb.co.za at 9pm....A friend of mine that lives close to me, on the same telkom exchange using the same account type and speed downloading the same file getting 30kb/s. I log onto telkom, max speed, I log onto afrihost, max speed.

Whats going on guize?

still streaming at less than 50KBps on a 4mbps line.

9PM at night.

WTF - WHY ARE YOU SHAPING LEGAL HTTP STREAMING!

YOU ARE PISSING ME OFF NOW!

This shaping has gone over board, someone said before i signed up that mweb will eventually go this route.

Glad i never listened because they have been awesome but we just hit a fsking iceburg, hopefully an openweb boat comes by soon.

21:12 they have turned off my paid subscription d/ls :(

Ok so i have a good plan :D.

We go to mrbeep with a bulk order, get a special price :D.

1. killadoob

I am thinking we need about 25-30 folk to bring it home.

Can't we get a representitive from MyBB to contact MWEB and get an official comment regarding this? Because clearly this is a problem and we have no way of knowing that our voices are actually being heard or whether MWEB is even doing anything about this.

From what I've read thus far, it seems I'm not the only one thats highly peeved at the fact that I spend R900 p/m for such a shocking disregard for first class service. Surely, (seeing as though we have two MWEB reps prowling this thread) they should take notice of the fact that it's not a small share of their customer base that is being affected, but the majority. This is not just a NNTP problem. It's a problem with the quality of service while using the "web" as a whole.

Just my 2c...

What just strikes me between the eyes is that for me its not just my ftp or anything of that sort its all my connections are being shaped(limited ) to 30KB...and thats alll...youtube goes but for heavens sake we need more speed on the other protocols.

Would you guys be happy with 2 Mbps Openweb Gold account, for say R550? You'd be able to do 500GB+ per month. Just a thought, if you're considering contacting MrBeep for a similarly priced alternative.

That's a thought - do you not get shaped during the day like with Mweb? What's their AUP?

I haven't used Openweb to be honest, but from this thread people seem to get decent speeds during the day, with some claiming full speed all day. I'm sure even 100-150 KBps would be better than what you're putting up with now during office hours.

A rough calculation here, if there was a 2 Mbps option:
200 KBps from 6pm-6am means that you can do about 9 GB over 12 hours during the night. 100 KBps from 6am-6pm means that you can do about 4.5 GB over 12 hours during office hours. That's 13.5 GB per day, or 405 GB per month. It's more likely to be more than that though.

im really stupid but, is this why my current ustream live video is stuttering beyond belief?

Im on a 4meg uncapped line.

yeah good point i see axxess have 2mb option now, ofc they throttle etc.

though person like me cant loose sat-3 connectivity, going to seacom again will make me sad , i will sit till its fixed, as my no 1 prioty is gaming with good eu pings, so any seacom isp is out of question, why my backup account is also sat-3 :P

11PM and getting 100KB/s from 'europe.newsdemon.com'

See MWEB, it was YOUR problem - hopefully you guys have sorted your issues out!
