what really pisses me off is the fact that you have too complain about the service and them maybe they will do something for you or try and do something to sort out the problem? i am just wondering if they just easy off on the restrictions on your account if you complain?

IMHO i think mweb under priced their product and over sold their BW as an ISP and we as consumers have to suffer!

If mika1000 is experiencing improvement, perhaps it won't hurt to rest the router and test for those still having issues...?
*Im not @home so cant test it.

PS: Check out my experience with the whole thing HERE

How ridiculous is this: downloading from the mweb news server I get about 50kb/s. I then VPN into a SOUTH AFRICAN VPN and get full line speed... Sigh...

I just have to share this with you guys - its a big LOL.

So its no secret that Mweb's performance is totally down the drain recently and we are all complaining about it. Well, get this, I was so fed up the other day that I quoted some post by Mweb Guy and called him something you would expect a royally cheesed off client to call their service provider... and he actually reported my post and I got wrapped over the knuckles for it! *pow* *pow* :D

Now thats what I call having a fine cheek :p
At least it made me laugh... although my speed on Mweb is still no laughing matter :(

Request for Info.

Hi everyone, new member here.

I've been monitoring this thread for a couple of days since I started getting problems connecting to Steam and Youtube and such with my MWeb 4mb Uncapped Shaped line.
As far as I can surmise, people experiencing this problem are:
1) Not geographically concentrated, i.e. from all over SA.
2) Not experiencing the problems stated with other ISP's such as Afrihost or OpenWeb.
3) Experiencing almost completely identical problems.

Now, props to MwebGuy for trying to handle everything on a case-by-case basis, it does show some real effort on Mweb's part to help out where and when they can and I massively respect that. But (there's always a but, especially after a huge butt-kissing sentence like that) what I'm really missing is some good ol' hones-ta-gawd plain language explanation for why people are experiencing the issues they are having. I mean, I'm an IT guy myself and I can understand outages and the odd complete system melt-down, but at least be prepared to tell users A) What happened. B) Why it happened (Diplomacy is usually required here) and C) When it will be fixed. (This is the hard one, I know) For bonus points try adding D) What is being done to prevent this from happening in the future. Not giving information at all is never a good thing, people just assume the worst by default. So please, Mweb Guy, is their no non-politically correct no-nonsense information you can give us?

I myself am seriously considering switching to Afrihost, especially since registering is so damn easy, just to be able to play Deus Ex: HR again (No login information on my PC, can't launch in Offline mode). And as much as I want to rant and rave and burn tires and cars in front of Mweb's offices, I'd like to try some civil discourse to find answers before I go the route of the ANCYL.

tl;dr: WTF is going on?

I can even get on to Steam 0_o Everything else seems to be working too... Hope the newly introduced normality lasts.
