Heavy shaping for me on news servers. Using Astraweb I used to get 150 kbs in the evenings and 400 kbs at night. Yesterday evening was 110 kbs and 200 kbs at night. Now it's between 80 and 90 kbs.

Okie dokie! Its now 10PM, and my downloads, on both News and Vuse, are going at speeds between 83-89Kb/s... which is great actually. Its still value for my money, and I can browse and do "normal" things at full speed atound 3.43Mbps. I am still a happy camper. Bed time now, hopefully the downloads pick up while I zzzz.

I check this morrning around 6am downloading on newsleecher at 430KB/s on 4Mb line with is briliant ... after 7am drop to 202KB/s now at 8am 164KB/s.

My downloads are mostly fine, yesterday around 7pm I did a speedtest and got 3.4mbit on a 512kbit account. I think their shaping works 100%, there might be a slight glitch with them not limiting the lower speed accounts at the moment though, since early april this account was properly limited to 512kbit.

I lined up a few downloads last night before I went to bed and speeds were going around 150kB/s, it showed that it would take about 15 hours to download. When I woke up this morning, to my surprise, the downloads were done…for the first time in AGES downloads went @ full speed from about 02:00 till 06:00 this morning. It was quite a pleasant surprise. I don’t know what MWEB did, but I’m glad they did it :D

Hey guys,

Please can we have more Pingtests posted? Great download speeds are awesome, but I'm more interested in consistent pings.
To local servers as well as INTL :)

Me 3, I have now learnt that my downloads run better while I am in lala land so I use IDM and schedule the whole lot.
Between 5 am and 7 am (I woke up at 5am) the download came in at 300kbps then dropped at 7 am to half that and by 8 am I had 2MB remaining to download which itself took an hour at a paltry 1kbps. Hectic nê?

Ping times have been very stable recently (30-50ms CT-Jhb and 250-300ms to EU & US) .

The heavy 'shaping' of low-priority traffic means that MWeb are keeping the rest of the network free-running for high-priority traffic. This is exactly what their Terms & Conditions say they would do.

Would gaming be considered P2P, especially on PSN (PS3) and Xbox Live (X360) ?
