Still nothing. But everything else is fine ( browsing , gaming , http downloads ) unless by them changing the pair , it's changed something?

Well up to 15h00 things looked promising and my account was behaving as I expected a shaped account to behave over a weekend. Since then though my sppeds are quite dismal again, running at an average of 12kBps, not realy what I was hoping for.

I can't even watch youtube.it was working fin a minute ago at 95kb/s and it suddenly dropped to 5kb/s

downloading on my side is OKish but browsing just sucks! Website with a picture on it (so all of them) not gonna happen, so slow. I PM'd Mweb Ops but he must be busy cause I haven't heard anything yet. I guess I can watch those TED videos rather than browse then

Just an idea, have you tried to telnet the news server just to test if you are able to connect?

I have a very sore throat and can hardly swallow my rooibos with honey and lemon. But its still less unpleasant that MWeb uncapped ADSL speeds....

I'm unable to telnet into either news.mweb or 163.209.98.66
It's been down since this morning for me (at least that's when I tried using it, I'm not sure how much longer it's been down for everyone else).

Are you able to telnet to any other news server maybe news.astraweb.com? Cause I am able to telnet into the mweb server from another isp

Yeah I can telnet into Astraweb's server. I'm getting authentication errors on my Afrihost account so I can't test a telnet into news.mweb from another ISP. It's all very frustrating.

afrihost also not working here. Unable to telnet it with my one internet account but still using the other. Just for interest sake I also noticed 168.209.98.66 also belongs to netcache5.is.co.za
edit: Still unable to telnet to mweb news server with one specific account that I have been using to test. But still able to use any other account. So not sure if it is possible but maybe you reached the max number of open connections to the sever from your ip adress, and it must timeout or be cleared from their side. Like I said not sure if it's possible.
