You better touch some wood and quickly.
My torrenting is well, how can I say it 'non existent'

HI Adrenalin

Please PM me your MWEB account details and I will investigate your speed issues.

Why Mweb takes 2 hours to notify the users

Hi Kohlhtor

We are not sending out notices as we normally do, as some of our traffic we are now routing via our SAT 3 links, therefore the entire network not being affected by the SEACOM outage.

Regards,
MWEB Operations

Hotfile, Rapidshare, news-servers all dead for me!! Getting 3KB/s from MWEB news server. Full speed on my afrihost account so definitely something with mweb. When will this be resolved?

Hi Everyone

Please be aware that we are running at 50% capacity on our Seacom links due to a cable break up North. engineers are in the process of isolating the fault and will attend as quickly as possible. P2P services will be shaped accordingly - Cape Town customers are unaffected by this.

Apologies for the delayed notice here, the outage was posted through our normal channels and the impact on early morning traffic has been fairly low.

I will update you as soon as we have an ETR.

Kind Regards
Will

why must part of the cutomer base suffer? can't all traffic be routerd via SAT3 link? we all must share in the pain!

Hi Everyone

I've just been notified that the fault has been cleared and engineers are monitoring, shaping should return to normal shortly.

Hi absk300

Unfortunately a change like this would be quite disruptive and is not really practical when dealing with a short duration partial loss of service.

EDIT : It seems that I've underestimated the ingenuity of our network engineers. They are working on implementing a failover route now for future situations like this. This unfortunately means P2P services will take a little while longer to be restored while they get this in place.

No, I'm in the Western Cape and definately impacted.

Any ETA for P2P then?

Thanks

Possibly another 45 minutes to an hour - I will update you once I've been notified that everything is back to normal.

Yes everything should be back to normal. Thanks for your patience :)

So I just wanted to say a Big thank you to Mweb! I'm pretty happy with my uncapped 384k line this year! I've been using it since April 2010 - so thats cost me R1980 for that time and I have used 276GB of data over that period. I'm pretty chuffed with that :) So in total my data usage this year has cost me R7.17 per GB :) Thanks Mweb..

Agreed with Fizhzn. MWeb needs to take a bow for their participation on the forums, and what they offer is exactly what they sell. No thresholds, or throttling, and have not changed the goal posts since they offered the product.

In the past mont I have not had any thing to complain about on my 384k line. torrents only useable from 1am to 7am

I have to mention that I have for the past 24 hours borrowed a MWEB 512 unshaped uncapped account and it has been brilliant! I've been running NNTP (only using Supernews) downloads non-stop at a constant 62 to 63 kBps. No interruptions, and no slowdown, simply brilliant. For now, I'll upgrade to a unshaped account and hold off moving.
