I spoke to mweb ops about that.. apparently users cant choose where they are routed to anymore..

must use mweb.news and that will automatically route to the closest one.

I am in cape town and I prefer to use the jhb one, as the speeds are way better on the jhb server.. but sadly I cant anymore..
 
for me, torrent speeds have been surprisingly good lately, averaging 420 kb/s....at one point my speed burst to 950kb/s and held for a while, i was so happy and for one instant i thought i got the 10mb upgrade but then reality came crashing in and my speeds went down again to 450kb/s.

If I was a conspiracy theorist, I would say that Big brother is installing new machinery / systems to keep an eye on us, and the reason that internet in SA has been crappy since the end of Dec, is because they're still working on it.
In reality, they are so inept, they wouldn't know where to start...............

With rica and the other spying legislation....would not put it past the clowns.
 
I have no problems with FileSonic, Oron or DepositFile at the moment. Although I do have a couple of files from Oron and FileSonic that just won't download completely, they always fail in the same spot.

Hey guys,

My news has been down the last couple of days, any ideas?

I use the regular news address and don't add jhb or cpt or anything. Makes no sense to me at the moment as a couple of my mates have working news. :(

Yeah I did see that, then a few pages forward, people were saying it was working again. Also, re-read what I said about my friend whose seems to be working fine. >.<

i mean it's slow,i usually download 15GB in 12 hours and now i can't even get 6gb in that time.

Download is now at 6.17GB/13.8GB Time Elapsed :19h 13m Time remaining 3d 16m speed 30 kb/s .

Guess my PC will stay on for another night.I don't know why my niece wants this game so bad,i could be using this time to download entire albums of music.
 
Torrents working, sort of, but HTTP downloads not at all

Still not having any luck with HTTP downloads. They are erratic at best, and hopelessly too slow (manage 70Mb the whole night). Torrents are fine. During the day they are hopeless though.

Will try an Afrihost 100Gb Capped account, and see if it's any better. If it is, then goodbye Mweb and the more than R 1,000pm I spend with them.
