Edit: and now i cant connect to news.mweb either anymore
Edit2: nvm news.mweb seems to have started stumbeling again

I also find that after 22:00 the speeds return to normal, then about after 08:00 it drops again. Will do a speedtest after 22:00 and post the results.

Still not perfect, but much better:

Download Speed: 286 kbps (35.8 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 105 kbps (13.1 KB/sec transfer rate)
Latency: -1 ms

I am still getting disconnected from international sites every now and then during the evening. on Mweb uncapped and it is getting very annoying

i'm having to refresh constantly. I have nothing downloading and my 4meg line feels like bloody dialup! *sigh*

Hi rambo919, please try setting your access from protected to normal on my account. Then reboot your router for at least 30min and try to connect again please.

Hi LabAnimal, please provide me your MWEB email address and I will assist in eliminating possible causes for slow speeds. Also please confirm on which platforms you are experiencing slow speeds?

Seems better but the news server with AltBinz still only run at 0 to 30 kbps with average about 15 kbps as oppose to +- 60 to 100 kbps yesterday before it started to go down. I give up.

Why 30min?

wow, that actually worked, thanks.
btw saying that i have to reboot my router for 30min is misleading, makes it sound like i need to somehow make the startup process take 30min....cant see how that is possible

So nice to wake up today and see good speed back on the news server ...... :D

First time in over a week, that I'm getting a stable and consistent download speed.

Really glad to hear that guys, we'll continue to keep a close eye on the situation over the weekend. Now get off the Internet and go buy a present for your mother :D

How does changing from protected to normal access fix connection problems to the news server? Protected access simply blocks all incoming traffic on a few ports (web, telnet, port 254 and port 255).
