I'm sending in my cancellation notice at the end of this month if things don't improve soon. I'm just tired now - I don't have the energy anymore to put up with this crap.

Be sure to send us a post card once you found a new ISP. We would love to hear how much better they are

Let's see... continuously get ripped off by a corrupt ISP and just accept poor service

OR

choose an ISP that performs as it should at least most of the time?

Decisions, decisions...

This so sad...

It been a week and a half since I last had decent internet. It has been getting worse and worse by the day. Every night astraweb goes slower and slower until it reached the point tonight where it does not connect at all.
P2p can only be used a few hours a night when shaping is lighten. Cached stuff can be downloaded from the mweb news server at 40kb on a 4 Meg line during the day or early evening.

International http is slow... does matter what site you go to.. 60kb and sometimes it spikes at a 100kb.

Mweb are not publicly admitting there is a problem...

so I ask again.. are we every gonna get back to normal.. Something happened on the mweb network on Monday 23 May 2011 at 6pm to start this. This is clearly not shaping.. but it does magically repair itself when shaping is lighten only to grind to a halt later in the day again.

I am getting really pissed off now Mweb.... FIX YOUR NETWORK......

Been getting the same thing nntp is totally useless for the last few days

Back again to 50k

This morning (2 June) its again soooo slow and throttled to 50k when downloading using single thread from an international site (Xilisoft and FileOpen) (on a 4MB line). This is getting ridiculous. We paying a small fortune to get !@#$ service. I think it is time to move.

Well its day two with Openweb and my line is going full tilt.

On the first day of this month Mweb was working after hours but i cant say much for the unshaped during the day :P

I just couldn't wait to insert the new account details.

Pipes on my 4Mb line are burning white :)

@MWEB Guy

So, I've been accused of ranting and not stating my problem clearly. I'm having crap with the MWEB service AND I'M NOT REFERRING TO P2P as I've stated a number of times in my messages here and my PM's to both you and Will. I've been messaging Will and I was referred to you AGAIN! Please don't send me line readings, and refer me to posts that Will's made and assume that resolves the issue or get some technician who says the opposite of what is said here to help me. I would like MWEB's performance issues to be investigated specifically to address my issues. I'LL REPEAT THIS ONE MORE, because it is apparent you guys are NOT reading my messages... HTTP is very slow, itunes takes hours to download small podcasts (100MB or so), you tube is non-functional. This changed in the last month and has gotten progressively WORSE.

I've tested other service providers and NONE of these issues emerge (afrihost/access/web africa) so the problem is obviously with MWEB's service! Fix your network and stop BS'ing me! Particularly as you've indicated that the services I've highlighted above are not shaped.

So tell me... how do you intend on helping me? And trust me, my stating of issues previously was no rant at all... I will not be patronized or made to feel guilty for services that I am paying for. If MWEB is uncomfortable with that, feel free to refund me.

What account on what backbone are you on?

My experience is actually slightly better than usual. Steam doesn't take 20 minutes to login or launch a game anymore and HTTP is as fast as ever. I still have to refresh Youtube videos a few times before they load, but when they do, they load at full speed.

This graph from the Youtube Video Speed History page is pretty interesting, though. Sharp drop in speed for Mweb towards the end of May while everything else continues at a normal pace.

Well last night my MWEB account was again pretty much unusable from 6pm onwards so had to resort to my temporary Axxess lite account to complete some iTunes downloads. When I switched back after 11pm to MWEB I again noticed that the speeds had improved but it was too late by then. I wonder how long its gonna take for some one at MWEB to come back to me, if ever. I have logged several calls to their call centre, PM'd my details on here for further investigation and still nothing!
Its becoming obvious that MWEB just dont care about what we as customers are experiencing at the moment and as far as they concerned if you have managed to download 100GB plus for any given month, you have no right to complain about anything.

Hi marlinwebster

Please play the test video and provide me with screen shots of the measured performance (the window that overlays the video), you can check the different resolutions as well and I will provide the feedback to our networks team.

Hi PerfectBlue

Please provide me with your account details and more information as to what exactly you are experiencing.

So over the fast few weeks I enjoy watching streams and as of a few days ago I have run a few tests with other ISPs and have discovered that MWEB have throttled this service along with extremely poor overall performance in general.

Attempting to deny or otherwise side track the issue would just be childish to say the least , I suggest MWEB include what they throttle in their T&C's and stop making us run around doing all this useless waste of time research.

Simple fact ... MWEB is lagging to hell and back where all other ISPs are running fine. Good going.

hey guys,
anyone have 10mb/s out there ?
whats your experience with it, ie, uncapped if u have or capped.
just found out my exchange in PE supports higher speeds now but i'm not sure how to proceed...does telkom upgrade you automatically and most importantly, is it free ?

tired of being on hold at telkom helpline.

any help appreciated!

hi william, 0800 375 375,
tell them you want to test the higher sync speeds and they should bump it up for you.
speed will only be as fast as your account allows

if they say they cant change it, just redial and ask someone else, lol

Thanks, i just got through...
they say i can only go up up 6mb/s ... feeling a bit deflated after the initial excitement but still better that what i had before.
they said at higher speeds my line becomes unstable or something.
